Pan-Fried Asparagus with Onions

We absolutely loved this simple recipe. The only change I made was that I doubled the onions. I will definitely make this dish many times.

Cucumbers in Sour Cream

Wonderful recipe. With the exception of adding onions, I followed the ingredients exactly. I did not soak the cukes overnight and I don't really think that part is necessary. I will make again.

Braised Corned Beef Brisket

This is my first time making a corned beef brisket and I'm happy my friends from the buzz recommended this recipe. I followed Baking Nana's advise and triple-foiled the brisket. It was fork tender and tasted wonderful. I had a small brisket of 2.5 pounds and this was done in 4 hours. I don't think you could over-cook it using this method. Thanks for helping make my first brisket perfect!

The Irish Potatoes

I made as directed and they came out perfect, although it never did bubble as the recipe stated. My family thoroughly enjoyed this dish. When I make again, I will be increasing the amount of onions, otherwise I will leave it as is. Thanks!

Fajita Marinade

Very nice marinade for fajitas. I made this with beef and marinated for 6 hours or so. I would probably double the cumin next time I made it, but otherwise I'd leave it as is. I think this would have been even better with chicken.

Jalapeno Ranch Dressing

This is wonderful. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used homemade ranch dressing from their own buttermilk packet. I made this to put on beef fajitas, but it will be excellent for dipping just about anything into. Thanks!

Pickled Garlic - Spicey

My 3 weeks are finally up. I really liked this and will make nice munchy food for me. I do not own a spice bag so just dumped them in and that seemed to work ok. I also added in some jalepenos. I liked them in there, but would probably put in more next time. I did the full 5 minuted boil and I think the texture was about right. The color was a little green, but that was ok by me. I expected it to be more tart. I would probably use cider vinegar next time.

Reuben Sandwich II

The Rueben is one of my favorite things to order at Ma & Pop style restaurants, but I've never made one at home until today. With all the other Rueben recipes out there, I'm glad I picked this one to try first. It's just how I like them. Thanks!

Round Steak Sauerbraten

Having never had Sauerbraten before, I really didn't know what to expect from this recipe. I tried it simply because the recipe looked interesting. I followed exactly as written and was happy with the taste. If I make it again, the only change I would make would be to simmer uncovered, at least part of the time, so that the gravy would thicken up a bit more than it did covered.

Amaretto Sauce for Carrots

I cut the entire recipe in half for feeding four, and I think I still had enough sauce for twice that many, or more. I boiled this for longer than the 10 minutes that the recipe required, but it was still overpowering with amaretto alcohol flavor. I think this recipe would be ok for our tastes if the amaretto was cut in half in proportion to the rest of the recipe. I used a good quality amaretto.

Superfast Asparagus

This was a big hit. I layed the asparagus out on parchment paper in a pan, sprinkled with Old Bay and baked for 10 minutes. I removed and sprinkled with an Italian cheese mixture and baked for an addition 3 minutes. Excellent. It don't get any simpler than this.

Strawberry Shooters

I made these for an appetizer for Valentine's Day. They were perfect for the occasion and quite tasty. I used an amaretto recipe from here, which is better than any bottled amaretto I've tasted. I found out that you can't make these too far in advance or the cream will start to melt into the alcohol, but that's ok, because if you have your strawberries already prepped, making them as you serve them can be as much a part of the presentation as the shooters themselves.

Wonderful recipe. I did the opposite of some reviewers, and I left the vinegar/oil just how the author of the recipe suggested, however, after adding the seasonings and tasting, I decided to double those. I will be making again.

Chicken with Lemon-Caper Sauce

First off, I mean absolutely no disrespect to the recipe submitter. I can certainly see why this recipe could appeal to many, but it just wasn't for us. We found it entirely too lemony for our tastes, and I love lemon in most things. Everything in the recipe worked exactly as it should have. The procedure was good and quite simple. I flattened the chicken some before coating and we loved how that came out. The three stars is more a reflection on our tastes than it is on the recipe. If I was to make this again, I would cut the lemon in half, at the very least.

Flatlander Chili

This is my first time making chili with a recipe. Usually I cook and taste and add as I go. I put my trust in the author and I wasn't disappointed. The only place I didn't follow the recipe is with the green peppers. I didn't have any to put in. From past experience, I would have loved them in here. I would probably compare this to a pretty good restaurant chili with some heat, but not a lot. I've also never made chili before without some tomatoes in it. I will probably use this again when I'm serving for those afraid of the tomato monster.
