No Time to Cook Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
Made this as written but added garlic powder, seasoned salt, pepper, and a small sliced onion. It was fairly bland with these additions, so all alone it would have been reeeeaaaaalllllly bland. FYI -- Adding an onion made my house reek! Regardless, it was quite easy. Might make again adding more spices.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
I made this recipe exactly as written and also using brown sugar (half recipe of 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, and vanilla). I preferred the version with brown sugar, thus only 4 stars since it's not the exact recipe. I think the brown sugar takes the extreme sweetness of the white sugar only version down a notch. But this recipe still rocked -- super easy to make and is ridiculously good for such little effort!!!

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
This was okay. Almost good, but not great for the amount of effort. I liked the taste of the marinated chicken vs. chicken just thrown in there. I would try again with different noodles and maybe adding the oyster sauce if it's not too spendy!

Veronica's Apple Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
These were okay, not amazing. Very dense and not light or fluffy like your typical pancake. I doubled the cinnamon and still couldn't really taste it. Based on other folks' reviews I was expecting something a little sweeter as well. They were quick to make and edible nonetheless.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
Made this exactly as written but without the kneading. They turned into hockey pucks (tasted okay though). Not sure if this was user error or the fact that I live in relentlessly rainy Oregon. Too bad I won't be able to really figure that out until it stops raining in May!

Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
I made a half recipe omitting the salt. Half just about filled up my whole crock pot! I wouldn't cut your chicken pieces too small as mine fell apart when stirring. Enjoyed it served over biscuits.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Very good! This was just about the stickiest dough I've ever worked with. 45 minutes in the freezer got it solid enough to continue. Made into large balls for two sheets of 16. Perfect at 14 minutes. Yummmmmm.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
Very good and easy. I use unpeeled red potatoes. I just throw the first part in my crock pot for a few hours, then add the roux for another couple of hours.

Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
This was okay. It wasn't spectacular (maybe it was the seasoning I used? or skim milk?) but was fast and simple. Felt like it was missing something.

Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
Since I made this in a regular pie pan (don't have a springform), there was enough filling to almost fill up two, definitely too much for one. It ended up baking just fine without cracks. I put the prepared filling in the fridge while making the crust which allowed for distinct, separate marbling. I was hoping you could discern the "plain" cheesecake flavor from the pumpkin, but the pumpkin overwhelmed everything. Still, very good, and very easy.

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
These taste amazing! However, I rated it 4 stars due to proportions stated in the recipe. I was able to get by with one 8 oz box of chocolate. It also seemed like 9 crushed cookies for the topping was waaaay too much. I would also suggest sprinkling the topping right after you dip each piece in chocolate (I waited until done with all of them and the first ones were already set). I bet these would be even more amazing in white chocolate.

This was really REALLY easy! This was the first time I've ever made or tried using fondant and it worked beautifully. Plus, it tastes really good!

Deep Dish Alfredo Pizza

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
We did not like the crust, thus the low score. HOWEVER, the sauce is great! I've made it twice. This might be a given, but it is much better with "fresh" parmesan you buy in the bag in the dairy section, as opposed to the grated powder stuff in the green cylinders. Definite difference in texture.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
This didn't turn out that great for me. This was most likely due to user error and lack of time. Definitely not comparable to Chinese take-out.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
This was very good and easy. However, just using 1 tsp of dill weed (half what is called for) was a little too much for me. Otherwise, yummy.
