Dominican Style Oatmeal

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
I'm an oatmeal beginner and really enjoyed this recipe. I'm used to the little packets of oatmeal you can buy at the store and they are really sweet. This wasn't nearly so sweet, so I was surprised at how much I loved it. Happy day! Thanks for sharing!

Butterscotch Oatmeal

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
Well, I liked this recipe, contrary to some other reviewers. I must have a sweet tooth because I didn't find it "sickly sweet" at all. It was tasty and the consistency was good. I did add a little vanilla before letting it sit for a few minutes and I skipped the butter. My kids couldn't get enough!

Corn and Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
Right after I made this I was bummed cuz the vinegar seemed to overpower everything, but after letting it sit overnight in the fridge like the recipe says to, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the flavors melded together. I ate mine with tortilla chips and it was tasty! (I also used a 15 oz. can of corn).

Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
We really liked this and my kids wanted seconds, so it's a winner in our house! I didn't mix the cheese and crackers. I mixed half of the cheese in with the squash and then sprinkled the rest on top after putting mixture in the pan. Sprinkled all the cracker crumbs on top and skipped the extra butter. Turned out great!

Chocolate Zucchini Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
My mom has always said to try a recipe as it's written before making any changes to it. I followed her advice and this bread turned out wonderfully! I guess if I'm truthful, I DID change one thing. I used mini morsels instead of regular (but I don't think that's a big enough change to count). It was perfectly moist, perfectly chocolatey, perfectly delicious!

Baked Oatmeal II

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
I wanted a healthier breakfast, so I decided to try this. I did cut the sugar by half (but I KNOW I would have loved it even better as is). I used vanilla almond milk, and instead of butter I put in applesauce. It wasn't my typical breakfast and I think I'll have to get used to oatmeal a little more, but the recipe was great and exactly what I was looking for.

Dream Bars II

I used the cocoa version and loved the flavor! I liked the coconut in it as well. Really yummy, but to be honest, I prefer brownies over these.

Microwave Cherry Crisp

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
It was really yummy, although the "crisp" was drowned by the juices in my pie filling which made it not so crisp. I still rated it 4 stars because it tasted good and was so quick and easy!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
SO very good! I did the same as another reviewer by adding the baking soda in with the rest of the dry ingredients and making up the liquid difference by using a T. vanilla, instead of just 2 tsp. My husband likes crunchy cookies and I lean more towards the softer kinds, and thanks to this recipe with its crispy outside and soft inside, I have found a cookie we both LOVE! Thanks!

Colossal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
Really yummy! I reduced white and brown sugar to 1 1/4 cups and added 1/4 cup flour. Just used my cookie scoop to put them on the cookie sheet and didn't flatten at all. They turned out great!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I did everything according to the recipe. I finished my last layer and it looked delish. THEN I saw the cans of refried beans on the counter -- the UNOPENED cans of refried beans! Oops. The greatest thing about it was that it still tasted fantastic! I'll def. be making this again and will add the refried beans, ya know, IF I remember to. ;)

Chuck Wagon Hash

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
My husband and I loved this recipe. I used half the oregano called for because neither of us are huge fans of the taste. Next time (and there will definitely be a next time) I will also cut the red pepper in half since it was a little spicy for my kids. Loved it!

Chicken Crunch

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
My family really enjoyed this meal. I used a large can of chicken because I was in a hurry and decided to try some other suggestions like using cream cheese instead of sour cream and adding frozen peas into the soup mixture. I also melted the butter and drizzled it over the cracker crumbs. Served it over rice -- so good!
