Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2013
This recipe is perfect! I am a chocolate chip cookie fanatic and I love these. My usual go to recipe loses some magic the next day, and since I'm taking these cookies on a road trip, I searched for a new recipe. I was worried because, in my experience, shorting recipes tend to create a flat cookie. Not here! I just ate a second day cookie from my batch and I think its even better than the first day. I followed the recipe exactly as stated, excepted I doubled the salt because 1/4 t didn't seem like enough. Also, I took the cookies out before they seemed done and browned and they firmed up perfectly as they cooled. This is my new chocolate cookie recipe!

Savory Crescent Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2013
I gave this 4 stars because I slightly altered the recipe. I think it is a solid, delicious recipe, but can be modified to fit your tastes. I do not like raw onion in baked dishes, so I sauteed the onion with a bit of minced garlic before adding it to the cream cheese mixture. I also used 4 ounces of cream cheese because it was easy to measure half an 8 ounce block. I'm glad I did because anything less might have been too dry. Also, I added a pinch of thyme to the chicken mixture. I didn't feel like crushing croutons, so I used breadcrumbs on top, then added a dash of a seasoning blend. We thought it was delicious. Easy to throw together and my 18 month old loved it. I will make this again. A nice winter staple.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
Pretty good and easy to throw together. I kneaded exactly 15 times and thought the biscuits were tougher than I expected. I also would add a touch more salt. Otherwise, a tasty recipe.

Green Chicken Enchilada

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
Slightly underwhleming. I appreciated that there was no sour cream or cream cheese in the recipe, but it wasn't very tasty. Probably good for children, but not someone who wants authentic flavor.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
I gave this 4 stars because I feel like its a great base recipe to add to as you like. I didn't have celery on hand, so I added a diced green and yellow squash at the broth stage. I added in garlic and thyme, too. We all loved this.

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
Delicious. This was better than I thought it would be and I even used cheap cheese. I added a dash of dry mustard at the cheese melting stage, as well as salt and pepper. Also, I didn't feel like dirtying another pan with the breadcrumbs, so I melted the butter in the microwave, mixed them with the breadcrumbs, sprinkled it on the noodles, then put the pan under the broiler for about 30 seconds after baking. My entire family loved it.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
We loved it, but did make a few changes. I omitted the jalapeños. I sautéed the chicken with the onion and let everything simmer for about an hour. I took another reviewers advice and puréed one of the cans of beans to thicken it up. Also, I drained the beans before adding them and there is plenty of liquid. I threw in some green and yellow squash, too. Very tasty and easy! I will make this again!

Vegan Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2012
This was very tasty. I cut the recipe in half since it is just my husband and me, but ended up using whole cans of corn and tomatoes and it tasted great. Also, I didn't have celery and used a red bell pepper instead. Like another reviewer suggested, we put tortilla chips in ours and a dollop of sour cream. Yummy!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Delish! I made exactly as the recipe calls, but added walnuts. These are very rich and sweet so nuts are a nice addition. Chewy and dense. Everyone who tried them, loved them!

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

This was a huge hit at the party. I used mayo instead of miracle whip and celery seed rather than Poppy seeds. It is the best coleslaw I've ever made.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
This cake was delicious. I didn't have a full cup of sour cream and think it would have been even more moist with it. The chocolate chips are a must. It tastes great with them. I topped the cake with powdered sugar and it was perfect. I can't I aging putting a frosting on this, it would be too much. I'll be making this again!

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
This was my first time making granola and it turned out well. I followed other reviewers advice and didn't add the brown sugar. It is plenty sweet that way. I left out the pecans and stirred in ground flax seed with the cranberries. Some of the pieces did burn a bit in the oven, even with frequent stirring, so I would lower the temp and cook for longer. Great recipe!

New Mexico Green Chile Breakfast Burritos

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
I enjoyed this recipe, as did all those I served. I used frozen hash browns, rather than do all the work with the potatoes. I also layered it and made a breakfast casserole, based on the audience I was serving it to. However, I think it would be delicious in burrito form. Even the leftovers were great!

Pasta, Broccoli and Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
delicious! i roasted my broccoli instead of blanching it and it was awesome. my husband loved it and he normally only eats pasta smothered in sauce. i did all the chicken and veggie prep the night before and did the skillet work while the noodles were boiling. a new regular recipe!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
I brought this to Thanksgiving dinner and everyone loved it! Many people asked for the recipe. I made a few changes. I used sour cream instead of mayo, an entire box of frozen spinach (just over 1 cup), 2 t of minced garlic instead of garlic salt, and mixed the mozzarella in with all the other cheeses instead of sprinkling it on top. I will make this again!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
I think this is a wonderful base recipe. I altered mine, but the great thing is that it is easy to do so. I added roasted broccoli and frozen veggies in the last step and omitted the ham. I also used chicken broth instead of bouillon and left the skin on my potatoes. I love that this is thickened from a roux, rather than adding heavy cream. A very easy and delicious recipe that I will be making again!

Very easy. I added sauteed spinach and onions and used cheddar cheese. I wouldn't say it served 6. 4 of us ate the whole thing. Quick to make and delicious. Will make again.

Delicious. I made this just as the recipe calls for and used fresh, home grown lemons. I think that made the difference. Everyone remarked how wonderful it was and the lemon flavor was perfect. Will make again.
