Supersize Pizza Puffs

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2014
I made these tonight with the help of my mini chef (a three-year-old girl) who basically did everything. My husband loved them and they took 10 minutes to prep and 12 to bake. I followed the recipe exactly except I used garlic powder not garlic salt. Don't be afraid to really stuff them because the cheese that oozes out is maybe the best part. I think I will follow the submitter's suggestion and use it for cream cheese and fruit for a morning danish next.

Old School Mac n' Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2013
I halved the recipe for just one casserole. I used mozzarella and sharp cheddar. I used 1.5 cups Panko breadcrumbs with 2 Tbsp melted butter and a bit of season salt for the topping. These were all changes because of missing ingredients. The only minor issue I had was that the sauce didn't thicken in the 10 mins. I ended up having to increase the heat back to med-low for about 3 more minutes. The result was delicious. I loved the slight kick. Husband loved it and said it was better than his mother's recipe.

Artichoke Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
I made this exactly as is, except I used lite mayo and reheated in the microwave the next day. It was very rich and creamy. Completely unaware of who made the dip, I had 4 different people at a work party exclaim that they had to know who made this dip. I proudly told them it was me, but humbly thanked allrecipes for the recipe. It does reheat well, but I had to mix it often to distribute the heat because it's so thick. It makes an awful lot of dip, so use it for a party of at least 8 people.

Feta and Sun-Dried Tomato Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
I had to make some substitutions because of what I had on hand. I used vinegar for the lemon juice, Italian seasoning for the Greek seasoning, added some lemon pepper since I didn't have any zest, tomato paste (1/2 can) instead of the tomatoes, and 1tsp of oil from my olives. It was still sensational. I think my substitutes kept the heart of the recipe. The instructions were good but I had to cook almost 40 mins to get my chicken thoroughly cooked. Delicious and my husband could not stop raving about it.

Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
I used Montreal Seasoning instead of pepper, center-cut bacon, and broiled it for 10-12 mins. My in-laws loved it. I had a comment of "this is the finest meal I have had in a long time." I don't think that was due to the mashed potatoes or meatloaf. My husband now requests these frequently.

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
I made it exactly as written except I subbed 1/2 cup apple sauce for half of the oil. The taste was very good and not super sweet. It's definitely a morning muffin and not a dessert. The batter was very moist which surprised me a bit. After the baking, the muffins were definitely the right consistency. I think next time I would switch some other dried fruit (maybe dates) for the raisins as I thought they kind of seemed out of place.

Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
This is a beautiful start for an Indian or Thai dish. I would not eat it on its own (it is essentially just rice) but it was a delicious base for a curry dish. When paired with the curry, the aromas and the sweetness of the coconut milk came out. I also used 1 cup rice to 1 cup lite coconut milk and 1/2 cup water.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
I used balsamic vinegar for the red wine vinegar and 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper for the hot sauce, but the rest of the recipe was followed as written. This tastes a lot like a teriyaki sauce, which is a compliment from me. It was delicious. I served with peas and potatoes.

Broccoli Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
I thought this was great, but my husband didn't really care for it. I didn't really pay too much attention to him because he doesn't like seafood much. This meant more leftovers for me. I think the only issue I really had was that this didn't really hold up on reheating. I would make it for a dinner party, or somewhere I was sure to use it all.

Turkey Stuffing Divan

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
I used ground turkey instead, but the effect is comparable I'm sure. I also did half cheddar (for the top) and half reduced-fat mozzarella (for the mix). It was phenomenal, especially the next day. The texture is quite bready, which I like, but others may want to add more liquid.

Snickerdoodle Chex® Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
This was so easy to throw together. I was able to use it as lunch snacks for a couple weeks. If I compared this to purchasing pre-made snacks I saved a few bucks and the taste was great. I think next time I may add more of the chocolate since it was a bit overpowered.

Easy Turkey Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
This was very good, especially the next day. I did make the following substitutions. On a few people saying it was dry, I used two cans of 98% fat free cream of soups (one celery, one chicken). I also added some peas to get more veggies in. And I replaced the sour cream with 4 laughing cow wedges diced. This made the recipe a bit more diet friendly.

Slow Cooker Carnitas

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
It was very tasty as a starter for Bbq. It was definitely missing the traditional texture of carnitas.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

I made the recipe as written. It was delicious but a little dry. I would double the sauce if I made it again.

Big Joe's Venison Steak in Chestnut Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
The taste was very good but I think it could use some extra savory flavoring (such as basil). I used walnuts instead of chestnuts and heated/roasted them for only 3-5 mins.

'Day Before Payday' Kielbasa and Corn Hash

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I would have just given this like a 3-4 on taste, but it had so much more going on. It was a beautiful dish with a lot of vibrant colors. It was cheap to make (less than 10 dollars for what I would call 6 generous servings). It was also low calorie when I substituted egg whites for the eggs and turkey kielbasa for the regular kielbasa. It was only 5 WW points per serving and left us feeling rather full.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
I used the suggestions of others and added parsley, season salt, and cumin. I also used a packet of gravy mix. It turned out wonderfully. I know I should rate based on the original recipe with only one or two subs, but I found that everyone agreed: it needed spice. My husband, who is not a big chicken soup fan loved it. I cooked the biscuits for about 1.5 hours instead of .5 hours.

Spicy Smoky Macaroni and Cheese with Turkey Bacon

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
The flavor was pretty good, but I thought the cheese had an odd texture. I never use Velveeta so I was unsure what to expect. I was not pleased by the way it was just kind of sticky, more like peanut butter than cheese. If I made again, I would switch cheese types.

Pie Crust IV

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Make sure to keep your shortening cold for a flakier crust. It tastes rather good and is useful for savory or sweet pies. I doubled the recipe and had no problems. I didn't add much of the water (less than half) before it reached the ideal consistency.

Pineapple Pie III

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I followed this recipe exactly. I thought it was a little sweet for my tastes. My guests liked it, but it did not wow anyone. It is very easy and has a good overall taste. The pineapple filling thickened up very nicely and quickly.
