About this Cook
My husband and I live six months in Florida and six months in Minnesota. We love to entertain and therefore, I'm always looking for fabulous new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to be in the kitchen, so whether it's cooking or baking, I'm happy. My husband and I are vegetarians, so I stay away from any meat dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking and baking were very big in my family growing up. My mom, grandmothers and aunts were all very skilled in the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I feel that each year I'm becoming a better cook. I am very comfortable with trying almost anything. When I look back years ago, I was intimidated to try difficult recipes.
My cooking tragedies
There have been a number of times when I spent hours on something and it failed. Either the sauce didn't thicken as it said it would or the cookies were a failure. It ends up in the trash and I live and learn.

Quinoa and Black Beans
I was excited to try this as I love anything with quinoa and/or black beans. We felt it was ok at best. With all the ingredients, I felt it would have had more flavor. It was somewhat bland and very dry. I'd maybe make it again due to the nutrition value, but didn't love it.

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi
Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic dish. I got my cast iron skillet fired up and seared it on both sides. It got those great grill marks and added the extra sauce when I dished it out. The flavors are great. I'll definitely be printing this out and making it over and over.

Popovers
I thought they were a bit heavy and doughy and so did my husband. There's a restaurant we enjoy that has the best popovers and I was hoping for something closer to them. We like the more airy, lighter ones. Plus after I buttered and floured the cups, the popovers almost had a paper-like outer coating around them that was tough to eat. I'm going to try out some other recipes to see if I find what I'm looking for. Don't think I'd make these again, but it was a good try.
