About this Cook
I am a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) and work in a high school. I am a former opera singer, so I think by definition food and cooking is a natural cliche. I share my life with 2 dogs, 2 birds, and 2 cats, all for whom I cook ocassionally. One of my dogs is a Standard Poodle that I hope to show sometime this year.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook for friends. It doesn't matter what I'm cooking, if it's for friends, it's good! I must say though when I make crepes that's usually when I get real creative.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I remember as a child making fudge with my parents, it was something we'd do on a lark, rather than a specific time of the year. Both my parents were in the kitchen working together to make the fudge perfect. It was fun!
My cooking triumphs
Making a family meal for over 50 people all by my self, and everyone raved!
My cooking tragedies
I started cooking at age 9 years. My mother was working late and I decided I'd help her put supper on the table. So I opened 2 cans of Franco-American Spaghetti, the large ones, and cooked a BOX of minute rice. I put the rice on a plater that was too small for the amount of rice I had, poured the spaghetti over the rice and decided it needed something on top. I found a bag of instant cheddar cheese sauce, made that and topped the dish with it. Mom brought home chicken but to her credit she tried my dish and praised me for my efforts.

Flan II
I used cage free brown eggs (which have a thicker yolk) and I also used 1/2 and 1/2 rather thn mile so that may have had something to do with it but this was so creamy the texture was great! Also, I've never used a wet towel in the bottom of the pan, I didn't have any bubbles in my flan! I should add that using white sugar for the carmilzing is a must. I used organic cane juice sugar, which is silghtly brownish and more coarse than white sugar it burned badly. I will use this recipe again!
