Spumoni Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2014
followed recipe exactly - except I did not have pistachio nut so I used slivered almonds and the cookies were great my new favorite way of making chocolate chips. For Christmas cookie tray I may add some green food coloring to brighten them up.

Mock Apple Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2014
Love this - no one can believe it is not the real thing. I made this years ago - it was big in the 70's but lost the recipe. So glad to find it.

Banana Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2014
It is just okay - not nasty or anything but taste just too much like cool whip and fake banana flavor from the pudding - I thought adding the fresh banana would give it a fresh taste but it still has that fake banana taste to it. This makes the cake taste more like a dessert rather than a cake.

Banana Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2014
It had a very good taste but is very dense and did not raise as I had expected. Maybe my milk was not room temp I will try this again - the taste is worth the second try. I did everything as written. I also used a persons suggestion for the banana cream frosting (from this site) - that I did not like. This will be much better with a regular frosting.

Three Packet Slow Cooker Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2014
I have made this several times I sometimes use water and sometimes beef broth. Either way it is great. I always shred it for sandwiches (either on hard rolls like Italian beef - or on bread with gravy like as hot roast beef sandwich) and every time I serve it I get raves. This is a real keeper.

Old-Fashioned Rice Pudding I

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
I think this recipe was great. I did not have raisins so I used dried cranberries but that was the only thing I changed. I loved the texture and it was so easy. I will be making this often I am sure

Real Strawberry Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2014
This is a very good frosting and very easy to work with. I must of cooked my strawberries to long I did not have enough to add all the Tablespoons they said to add but I did start with a little over a cup of strawberries. Since I was short on the strawberries I added 1/2 teaspoon strawberry extract. It is a beautiful pink - I had enough to frost 27 cupcakes and a little left over. I will make this again.

Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2014
It may have been my mistake but I added 1/2 cup butter instead of 1/4 in error. I also forgot the vanilla and used only 1 Tab lemon juice. I loved the taste it was wonderful BUT I totally could not pipe it - it seemed more like a thick glaze. I put it in the refrigerator for a while thinking that would make it get stiffer but it didn't. I saved the rest to use as a glaze for a lemon Bundt cake but for a frosting I pass.

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Absolutely delish! The only changes I made were as others suggested half white & half brown sugar and a few Tablespoons of flour. Not sure if the flour was needed but it did give it a very good consistency. I will never make pumpkin pie again!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Wonderful. I thought I made a good apple pie until I tried this recipe. It is great. The only thing I changed was I added the spices I usually use cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and vanilla.

Noodle Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
This is perfect did not change a thing. Took it to a covered dish and it was the only dish that was empty at the end. I had been looking for something like my Grandmother's and this is it.

Juicy Watermelon Sorbet

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
It was very good and very refreshing. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 beause you do have to change the recipe some. After reading the reviews I did cut the water/sugar to 1 cup to the 4 cups of watermelon. And at 1 cup it was still very sweet, I can't imagine if i would of used the 3 called for in the recipe! I also cut the lime juice - I did not want a tart sorbet so I only used one Tablespoon of the lime juice. With those changes it was wonderful. Made it in my ice cream maker and the texture was perfect.

Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
Just took this from the oven. It is wonderful. Not as dense as others I have tried - nice crunchy crust. The only thing I changed was i only used 2 cups of raisins as suggested by others. This was so very easy I will be making it again & again.

Rum or Bourbon Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
They are just okay - not the type rum ball recipe I was looking for. I agree they are gritty. I even warmed my rum & tried to dissolve all the sugar and it did not help. I also think they are a little strong with the amount of rum called for. I followed the recipe exactly. While they are warm they are easy to work with but as they cool they do need to be worked harder and warmed in your hands to hold shape. I will keep looking for a better recipe than this.

Banana Oatmeal Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
Followed the recipe exactly, and would not change a thing. It is a very moist and tasty cake. It is a keeper for sure. The only thing next time I will double it and use a 9x13 only because the 8x8 will probably not last the evening.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
This is the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. The cookies were chewy and taste great. The dough is easy to work with. Cookies did not stick to the baking sheet. Allowed them to cool on the sheet a few minutes and they slid right off. Followed the recipe exactly - does not need changed at all. I can stop looking this is the only chocolate chip recipe I will use from now on.

Baked Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
This is a perfect baked rice pudding recipe. The only things i did different were add more raisins and I used canned milk because i had a can I had to use. Did everything else exactly as stated. It is the closest to my Grandma's recipe I have tried. Nice and firm and not too sweet - it is a real keeper.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
I added the teaspoon on vanilla & went just a little less on the sugar. Baked them in the Texas size muffin pans - made 6 good size muffins. They were moist and tasted wonderful. Everyone that tried them loved them. This is a real keeper.

Mini Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
Made these for my Red Hat Party and they were the hit of the day. Everyone thought I was so clever to make them, I almost hated to tell them how easy they were to make. I used the jumbo muffin tins and a pineapple ring fit perfectly.
