About this Cook
My mother did not cook when I was growing up. We joke that her specialty is jello, and she tells stories of my brother and I playing "restaurant" instead of "kitchen" when we were children.
My favorite things to cook
Dips! I love to make dips. My husband and I love entertaining whether it be for football games, holidays, ladies night, or no reason at all. He's the grill-master while I am the dip-master.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Um... see "about me" section. For Christmas Eve, my mom used to make Prime Rib and twice baked potatoes.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving dinner, all by myself, in 2009, the first year in my new house shortly after my marriage.
My cooking tragedies
Bacon. I can never seem to get bacon right, and that smell NEVER goes away. I've also had egg explosions. For Christmas and birthdays, my mom buys me all kinds of fancy convenience cooking gadgets. The microwave egg cooker went into the trash shortly after the explosion

Caraway Cheese Ball
Fantastic! Great recommendation. I'd never made a cheese ball before either, did put a bit of extra Caraway into it, and made it at Thanksgiving. Everyone ate so much they almost didn't eat any turkey!

Chicken Wing Dip
This is ALWAYS a hit, whether it be a BBQ, a girls' night, or a football party. EVERYONE loves chicken wing dip. Also--I use lowfat cream cheese, lowfat blue cheese dressing, and 2% cheddar cheese to make a lower fat version of this . It is still fantastic.

Mini Cheesecakes
These are awesome. The filling is delicious! The nilla wafers end up puffy and cake like, which I love. My husband, on the other hand, calls them "soggy vanilla wafers" and though he LOVES cheesecake will not eat these. Men! Ugh. ;)
