Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
This is a really good recipe but my husband is extremely picky so i had to omit the onion, peppers, italian sausage and onion and severely limit the beans. But, even without all those ingredients, it was still delicious!!

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
This was very good and I really liked how it held together almost like a lasagna! My husband is extremely picky so I had to used a small amount of dried minced onions instead of the fresh, but other than that, followed it exactly. Turned out really well and will be adding this into our regular "meal menu" :o)

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
This was very good! I followed the review of a few others and soaked the breadcrumbs in the milk beforehand. I also did not put in the "chunks" of cheese, instead I just put in a generous portion of shredded, turned out nice and cheesey! I topped mine off with my husbands favorite BBQ sauce and he said that really added to the flavor. I will definatley put this one in our menu rotation :o)

Husband-Friendly Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This was very good and I'm giving it full star rating but next time I make I'll do the following; Try crumbled Feta instead of the Gorgonzola, my hubby didn't like the strong taste of that cheese and I will also try a different BBQ sauce then what I had in the fridge. I used "Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ" and it was too sweet. Next time I will try KC Masterpiece (original) cause that seems like a more "smokey" BBQ sauce. Other than that, it was really good and I made it on a night that my MIL came over for dinner and she said she liked it too. This is another that will make it onto our normal menu rotation!

Angel's Old Fashioned Beef Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
I agree with other reviews, this makes a good "base" but isn't exactly what I would consider enough to make a tasty stew. I took the advice of others and added a sprinkle of Worchestshire sauce. I made the mistake of adding too much of the water/flour thickener so it was a bit too thick but just added a bit of water to thin it. I really didn't care for the garlic powder. But, this is more if a personal choice, I rarely use it in any of my cooking. Next time I will use a bit of Garlic salt and then just season the rest with salt and pepper. I added the potatoes toward the end but it was still too much time and they were a bit mushy but not bad. Next time I will add toward the last 15-20 minutes of cooking. Overall, it was good but I gave it 3 stars for the blandness.

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
This was very delicious! I took the advice of a few others and boiled the chicken in 1/2 of the stock that it calls for (10minutes) then i added the potatoes & carrots & boiled another 5min. I made sure they were still firm but not raw. I prepared everything else the same with the only other exception of the onion, I never keep onion in our house due to the fact that my hubby hates it so i sprinkled in a tiny bit of dried onion and that worked just as well. I also followed the advise of a review on the egg white wash on the crust...turned out beautifully! This is another that will be in our meal rotation menu :o)

Angie's Perfect Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
These were good, however, I think I baked them too long cause they were a tad dry. And, next time I make these I will add just a tad more sugar.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
Fabulous!!! I followed the advice from other reviewers and rubbed the chuck roast with Montreal Steak seasoning and seared it on high heat on all sides. I have a steamer basket that fits in my crockpot so I waited an hour after I put the roast in and then peeled the potatoes and cut them up along with some carrots and then put those in the steamer basket and placed that atop the roast. They were cooked PERFECTLY!! My husband literally could not stop raving about how tender this roast was. This was a HUGE compliment to me cause we've been married for 8yrs and for some reason or another I ALWAYS screw up a roast. FINALLY one turned out! This one is DEFINATLEY a keeper and will be going onto our menu rotation!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Very delicious! The creamy sauce that the chicken bakes in makes it very tender and moist! Good comfort food! The ONLY thing I would alter, is to add maybe a small amount more of seasoning. It had a very good flavor but could've used a teensy bit more. Other than that, perfect! This one will definatley be added to our menu rotation :o)

Stuffed Shells I

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
This was very delicious! I modified as follows: used half ricotta and half small curd cottage cheese, fresh oregano and fresh parsley, garlic salt instead of powder and cooked the shells partially (about 6min). I made sure that the sauce covered the shells well and sprinkled the parmeasean and mozzerella over the top. Covered with foil, baked for 30 minutes, removed the foil and baked an additional 20. PERFECT!! Even though this was a meatless dish, my husband loved it! And, on a side note, I took the advice from another reviewer and put the filling in a zip lock baggie, snipped the edge and piped the filling into the shells. Very easy and almost no mess! This will be a great addiditon to our menu rotation :o)

Candied Yams

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
Great reciepe! I used 2 large cans of Bruce's yams, drained all of the juice, cut up the yams into smaller bits and then followed the rest of the reciepe the same. It was very sweet and the toasted marshmallows on top were AWESOME!! My husband NEVER eats stuff like this and he gobbled it up! This will definaltey be a Thanksgiving/Christmas food item at our house :o)

Best Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
I am giving this 4 stars b/c I had to try it a couple times to get it just how I liked it. I modified as follows: Used a seasoned cruton mix (like what you would stuff a turkey with) instead of the "stove top" stuffing, and I quick fried the chicken in oil so that the outside was a nice golden brown and then transfered all the chicken pieces to a wire rack upon a cookie sheet. That way the oil could drip down and be caught on the pan. I baked them at the suggested time for only about 15-20 minutes. PERFECT! I love the taste of the "marinade" with the sour cream and soy sauce. I did not have any celery salt or celery seed so i just used a little bit of garlic salt. But not too much cause the soy sauce was salty enough. Husband really liked it the second time around once I had made those modifications. This will be another one added to our menu rotation! :o)

Bacon Wrapped Pork Medallions

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
YUM! This definatley pleased the hubby! However, I made the following alterations: 1lb Pork Tenderloin, OMMITTED Garlic Powder, 1/2t Seasoning Salt, 1/2t Basil, 1/2t Oregano, 1/4C Grated Parmesean. Cooked bacon according to directions. OMITTED the butter & oil and just used the reserved bacon drippings. I coated the bacon wrapped tenderlions as instructed, quick pan fried them in the reserved bacon drippings. I DID NOT have a cast iron skillet so what I did was place the quick fried tenderloins on a wire rack ontop of a baking sheet. Popped that in the oven for about 15-20 minutes and the wire rack allowed for any excess grease to drip down and off onto the baking sheet. Very good recipe! Will definatley be adding this to the menu rotation :o)

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Awesome! I made it without onion and used slightly less garlic and it was still very delicious! Used Red Skinned potatoes and cut them up into large chunks and microwaved them for about 12 minutes, mashed them with my potato masher and tossed them in. They were still very chunky and held up great!

Baked Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
These were OK. I really didn't care for the whole "butter wash" thing. Seemed too greasy for my taste, but my husband liked them just the same. Not really sure I'll be making these again.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
I'm not getting why most people loved this (??). I thought the general concept of the recipe was good but I didn't like how baking the breaded chops in the baking dish with butter made them soggy. I think next time I will bake them on a wire rack atop a cookie sheet, spritz with the melted butter and see how that bakes up. Hopefully not soggy like these turned out.
