So my family is a pretty meat and potatoes kind of group, so I had to trick them into thinking Bison was steak, something that went over well for everyone but my son.  He knew something was up.  He looks up at me and inquisitively and I know he knows this is not the normal steak we serve.  He keeps eating for a little bit and then pauses again.... and says, "what is this?" My daughter and husband had just finished their meat so I told him, "It's Bison", so he says to me, "well its delicious".  I look over at my husband and my daughter and their mouths are fully agape and they dont even know what to think.  "What did you say?" asks my daughter... I said "Bison".   It was an interesting interaction to say the least and I did fear that they would stop eating what I put in front of them without asking me what it was... that would crucify several dinners a week! Surprisingly, they went along with it.... the enjoyed it and want to try it again.  I think my monthly requirements can only help my family in the coming months, to eat more from home, try things out of the box that we may not be used to, and to open our eyes to the awesome amount of healthy, delicious food we have yet to conquer.

About Me
I am a mother of two and I love to cook. When I was a stay at home mom, I would make a huge three course dinner every night. I spent all day cooking and cleaning and my kids have become true cooks themselves!
My favorite things to cook
I make great pizza and lasagna. I love to make bread too. I make amazing desserts as well and love to find new an inventive things to cook over a fire. We go camping a lot during the summer and I am always looking for some new way to cook fun foods while camping.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Potato Salad - my mom makes the best in the world. I make a huge Thanksgiving day dinner every year and its my favorite holiday - its a four day event and from breakfast to dessert, everything is made from scratch.
My cooking triumphs
I made a ton of food for a friends party and people were asking who the caterer was, that was pretty amazing. My husband and I have poker nights four or five times a year and some of our friends come solely for the food!
My cooking tragedies
I have made a few - usually the first time I make something its not great - but by the second or third time, I have figured it out! I once spent four hours cooking cannelloni al forno for an entire room full of people and forgot to boil the pasta, I had made it fresh, so I had to make spaghetti instead. I cried.
