Romaine With Apple, Pecans and Blue Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
Wasn't impressed with the dressing (made it exact). I took out the onions (I think mine were too strong) So I used a basic honey/mustard vinegrette and it was much better and just added the bleu cheese. I got compliments on it this way.

Shrimp and Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
didn't have mushrooms..still very, very good. One of my favorites. Make it EASIER: Just throw the shrimp in with the noodles during the last minute of cooking (and I use whole grain linguine). Use the bottled minced garlic if you aren't using mushrooms and then you avoid the saute step. This recipe only takes me about 10 minutes to throw together if my asparagus is washed and cut. I also like to just toss the asparagus w/olive oil and garlic salt and bake at 400 degrees till done. (Do this while the noodles cook) LOVE THIS.

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
I really like sweet potatoes anyway so I liked these of course. I did try adding a little garlic salt and that was yummy. However...they weren't at all crispy..very soft. I was hoping for crispy. I tried putting them under the broiler for a few minutes, which helped but they were getting cooked too much. No one else in my family likes sweet potatoes. Their take on this? No one liked them. Maybe if I could get them crispy. I will try them again to see if I can't perfect the cooking part.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Hands down the best bread recipe I've ever tried. I've made it several times and each time tried something a little different. Every time it was wonderful. I've determined I like it best with 1/2 c sugar and 1/2 cup wheat germ subbed for 1/2 c of flour. My next batch I am trying w/milk. Next tries I'll be adding whole wheat flour.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
It was hard to get past how completely unappetizing these looked!! I followed the recipe EXACTLY..made no substitutions or adjustments. As for taste..they were really bland and the texture was very unappetizing. I checked out the photos others took of their rolls, and they look the same. This recipe needs lots of help..I can't figure out what everyone else is tasting???!!

VanVoorst Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
I had my doubts that the family would like this..they are quite picky. But it was a hit! My husband (who is especially picky) said to "keep the recipe". YAY!! I was a little skimpy on the mustard because of other reviews. It was very good. Next day I added a little milk to it before reheating and we all thought it was even better the next day. I used whole grain Rotini and a little bow tie pasta (regular, not whole grain) I had left in the cupboard.

Soft, Moist and Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
I have tried many, many recipes for cinnamon rolls and this one is by far the best. I put mine on a jelly roll pan instead of a 9x13 so they could rise properly and not be squished. I like nice round rolls. I also did a cream cheese frosting. I am using these for a family get together and I am sure they will be a hit. Thank you! (followed recipe exactly..baked for 18 minutes. I'm high altitude and they worked great)

Peachy Moist Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
WOW! These are so good! I doubled the recipe and it's a good thing I did. I ate 4 of these before anyone had found out I made them! :) I didn't have pecans, but I did have chopped almonds. I used 1/2 of what the recipe called for because it was all I had. Next time I'll use a whole cup! I also added 2 tsp of cinnamon. I took advice of others and added 1/2 tsp baking soda and a little milk. Oh, yum, yum, yum!! **I've made these several times now. If I could give them 10 STARS I would!! These are so amazing! I just thought I'd note that when I haven't had yogurt on hand, I have subbed sour cream for the same results. We LOVE these amazing, delicious, moist muffins!**

Autumn Apple Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
This is a really good salad..however, it is way too sweet! I only put 1/2 the sugar in it because it seemed like so much. It was still extremely sweet. Next time I won't add any sugar at all as all the other ingredients make it sweet enough.

Plum Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
I can't stop eating this! I highly recommend trying this bread/cake. (It's a cake) I used fresh plums..just put them in the blender. Used 1 1/2 cups of pureed plum and reduced oil to 1/2 cup. For the nuts, I used pecans. Really good! Even my four year old likes it.
