Mountain Dew™ Cake

Yummy! VERY moist. I think next time I'll cut back on the oil a bit. I only added 1/2 cup sugar to the pineapple topping and it was PERFECT. 1 cup would have been way too sweet.

Browned Butter Vegetables with Almonds

these are really good, but I didn't think they worked well to make ahead. By the time lunch came around they were pretty soggy and drippy. But I did like the flavor and the crunch.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Very good! the only thing I would change would be to use just water and not chicken broth (subbed for wine). It was on the edge of being too salty. I cut the butter in half. Next time I probably won't even use the butter.

Fruited Cabbage Salad

I have a banana/apple salad I make with the same dressing. It is very good. I love the idea of using the cabbage and nuts. I used almonds because I didn't have pecans.

Kielbasa and Kidney Beans

Love this recipe! It's very versatile, so if I don't have canneli beans I just use red kidney. I didn't have peppers once, so I added carrots. we loved it with the carrots, so I add them all the time now. Just cooked until crisp tender. I don't use all the brown sugar because it's too sweet with 1/4 cup. 1-2 tbsp satisfies our tastes. I also started adding 2 cans of beans (one white, one red kidney) for my hungry family. This is a regular at our house.

Shepherd's Pie IV

Excellent! I mashed the cauliflower w/the potatoes (can't tell it's even there). I also added about a cup of sour cream to the cream of mushroom soup. I have three recipes for Shepherds Pie, and I think this is my favorite. My kids like it with corn better than with green beans. This is a versatile recipe.

Crazy Curly Broccoli Bake (Kid-Friendly)

Used fresh broccoli (steamed first). didn't have cream of broccoli soup so I used cream of chicken. I stirred in some shredded cheddar. I tried it first with bread crumbs, and didn't like it, so I tried it with crushed saltines. Liked it that way. Tossed in some Parmesan like a previous reviewer suggested. It was a hit by all. This is a keeper. Could add chicken,ham, tuna... Very versatile.

Idaho Tacos

These are so very good!! But may I recommend adding a can of drained and rinsed kidney beans to the ground beef mixture, and adding chopped fresh tomatoes. We've even added sour cream. Oh my, so very , very good!

Herbed Pork and Apples

Every bite was very good except where the garlic was. The garlic was sooo strong, it was nasty. Overall this is a very good recipe, but I will definitely just add a tsp or so of MINCED garlic to the rub.

If you don't like corn tortillas, like me, use flour tortillas. Make the recipe as suggested without adding tortillas, Then fill flour tortillas w/mixture. Roll up. REally good that way!

Last Minute Chicken Dinner

I didn't make this the "fast" way, I used fresh carrots and broccoli. But that was okay, because this was delicious. I about doubled this recipe for my big family and it was nearly gone when dinner was over. ***I've now made this recipe three times, each time my kids tell me "You should make this more often!". I've used frozen veggies and fresh, canned chicken, fresh chicken...all ways has been very good. My note: LOAD up the vegetables...I use more than the recipe calls for.

Oaxacan Tacos

Fun change to the normal American taco. I'm not a huge fan of corn tortillas though. I honestly think I'd like these better on a flour tortilla. I know that isn't "traditional"..it's just truth! I love the lime and spice together. I think I'd like some fresh red and yellow peppers thrown in the mix too.

Bacon-y Bok Choy

I had Bok Choy and have never used it before. I enjoyed this dish and my 13 yr old daughter did too. It all got eaten but no one raved about it. If I ever have bok choy again in the house (co-op fruit/veggies!) I will make this again. Bacon makes everything good!

Savory Vegetable Beef Stew

Delicious, hearty, thick and absolutely perfect for a fall Sunday dinner. Stew Meat was at an outrageous price so I bought some Sirloin Tip steaks that were on sale, cut them up and simmered until they were tender (just like the recipe said). PERFECT.

Fettuccine with Sweet Pepper-Cayenne Sauce

Very good! Even great the next day. I only used 1/2 the spice and added chicken. The hubby and kids thought it was okay to pretty good. But I really liked it a lot. This can definitely be a base recipe that can be changed around to taste and for variety. Thanks for a great, simple recipe.
