Onion-Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2012
So good! And so easy! I didn't use two types of potatoes because we wanted both potatoes and carrots roasted, so I subbed the sweet potatoes for carrots. We put them around a pork loin roast, did them for the time specified and OMG...mouthwateringly (if that's a word) awesome! Will make again, and although my kids refused to try them, my husband and I ate the entire pan! LOL

Baked Italian Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
This recipe was excellent and so easy to just put together and bake. All that is needed is a small side of veggies or a salad. Everyone at the table gave it a 4 out of 5...so it's going to be made again, that's for sure! One addition I made was to add some garlic powder to the soup when mixing it, and seasoned the chicken with salt & pepper. Also meant to take a picture, but it looked so good, we just dug in! LOL

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
Every year, I attempt sugar cookies at the request of my children and every year, I get frustrated because no matter what I do, the dough sticks, I can't get the "figures" off the countertop, and the entire dough recipes gets thrown out. NOT THIS YEAR!!! This recipes was awesome for rolling out, and thanks to the reviews of others, I tried something different: rolled it out on parchment paper dusted with icing sugar and sugared the top of the dough as well as the rolling pin...it rolled and cut like a breeze! When it came time to take the cookies off the parchment, I simply peeled away the uncut dough and peeled back the parchment a little, and the cookie came right off, unbroken, unstretched and perfect. Thank You for posting this Jill..you are my hero!!

Baklava

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
We have never attempted to make Baklava before and the thought of working with phyllo pastry scared the daylights out of me, but we made this for dessert tonight and I have to say it's to die for. I was skeptical that it wouldn't taste anything like I'd bought in our Greek bakeries, but it did! Even my daughter, who doesn't like nuts, ate this! The only thing we would do differently is to make a little more of the syrup that you pour over the top :-))

Minty Nanaimo Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
These are good, but a little too minty for me and my kids. The hubster loved them though. I will make these again, but cut down on the mint flavouring a little.

Rotini Pasta Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
Very good recipe as is, and would also be good with some additions. I made it as is and everyone enjoyed it. I especially like it because it's made with things you have on hand even when it's the day before grocery shopping day! Thanks for a family-pleasing recipe!

Molly's Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
Very tasty rescipe everyone loved. I mistakenly didn't read the part where you are to mix the ingredients in a separate bowl and pour over the chicken and just put the chicken in the crockpot, and put the other ingredients on top, mixed with a little flour to thicken the sauce as others said it was thin. Turned out just fine doing it that way :-) Will definitely make this again! Thanks!

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
Absolutely fabulous!! I whipped it, once cooled to use as a filling for my daughter's birthday cake. Couldn't resist a taste and it blew my socks off! use the best chocolate you can find. I live in a small town, so I'm limited, but I used Swiss bittersweet and it was fantastic!

Rolled Fondant

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
This recipe is identical to the one from the Wilton yearbook...I give it five stars because the Wilton one worked out, so this one would too. I used the gel food colouring instead of liquid for more accurate colouring...added while kneading the dough.

Tomato and Bacon Pasta Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2013
When I make a recipe from this site, I make it as written with no alterations, rate and comment on that then next time I make it, I add my own touch. As written, this recipe was very good. My picky daughter ate it, only complaining about the onions (which I chopped large enough for her to find so she could take them out lol). I thought there should have been a little more sauce to go with the 18 oz of pasta. Now, I used elbow macaroni because that's all I had so maybe that was why it didn't seem to be very "saucy". I think next time I'll add a little oregano, perhaps some garlic. Other than that, I actually really enjoyed this. LOVED how fast it came together and dinner was on the table too!!

Seasoned Potato Fries

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
My family is VERY picky when it comes to their fries. They usually have to be done in a dutch oven full of oil. However, being a new year and committing to a healthier lifestyle, I tried these Seasoned Potato Fries. I made the exactly the way the recipe said to, except I left out the italian seasoning, thinking if I was messing with my families fries, I'd better make them remotely close to "fried"...They were a huge hit!! Even my husband who feels it's blasphemous to BAKE fries said we should do our fries like this all the time :-) Thanks for making me a hero to my family LOL!!

Home Made Mayonnaise

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
This was excellent! We had chicken burgers for dinner and realized I had no mayo for the buns. I looked up this recipe and made it. It was so quick and while I was afraid it wouldn't taste like "real" mayonnaise, I was pleasantly surprised! It looked and tasted just like real mayonnaise. I think we'll be making our own from now on and save some money! Thanks for a great recipe!!

Apple Maple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
This is, in one word, excellent! My apple crumble recipe calls for a pie crust and since I'm trying to cut down a bit on fat and carbs, this was a better choice than my standby. I was skeptical just piling apples in a pan without a crust, but this turned out so yummy! A hit with three out of four family members, the fourth only not liking it because she doesn't like her apples baked! LOL Thanks for a definite do-again recipe!!

Double Chocolate Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
I've never made biscotti in my life and shied away from it because I thought it was going to be difficult. I took the bull by the horns and decided to make this for our cookie plate for Christmas dinner. It was SO EASY! It cut like a dream using a serrated bread knife and though crunchy, it's not so crunchy as to crack a tooth like some biscotti I've eaten. Not over sweet, would be wonderful dipped in coffee or hot chocolate. So much for Christmas...I made them two days ago and they're gone. Guess I'm making more. Thanks for an easy and pretty fool-proof recipe!

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
The taste was there, however I don't know if it was me or the recipe, but when I did these in the frying pan on the stove (pan not oven-proof) I had trouble getting the coating to stay on. Made a nice side dish though! Also, three eggs and all those breadcrumbs/parm. cheese is a bit much for four pork chops. I threw out the equivalent of about two eggs and at least 3/4 cup of bread crumbs and I put A LOT on the chops! I will scale down the egg, milk, breadcrumb and cheese next time. Overall, taste was good, but not a five start recipe.

Easy Alfredo Sauce II

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
For years I've been trying to convince my husband to try fettucini with Alfredo sauce. He was convinced he hated the stuff, though he'd never tried it. I decided that since I was craving it, I would cook up some chicken breasts I had in the fridge, throw some fettucini noodles in a pot and make this sauce. It was amazing! My husband loved it, although he did say it was "a little rich"..Who cares?! I love rich! LOL My only complaint is that when you reheat the dish the next day, the sauce doesn't stay creamy. Excellent though, and will make again! Thanks!

Cheesy Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
Very good recipe! I think next time I might a little garlic to the potato when mashing them. My husband loved them and he hates "cheese on everything", and the kids loved it too, although I never told them about the eggs and mayo! Will definitely make again..thanks for a great recipe!

Super Easy Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
Super easy, super fast and super good!! It's not everyday I can find a meal that everyone likes, but this did it!! Even my husband who was horrified I was going to turn perfectly good chicken breasts into chicken fingers loved them and said that it would for sure be acceptable to have again! LOL Thanks for a great recipe!
