Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
I made these tonight in preparation for my kids' Hallowe'en parties at school. I haven't iced them yet, but they are very tasty. I followed the recipe exactly, but did cut back on the milk a little as another review said. I ended up getting 21 cupcakes and not 16 as the recipe states, filling just over half full. That's okay though, the more the better.

Baked Italian Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
This recipe was excellent and so easy to just put together and bake. All that is needed is a small side of veggies or a salad. Everyone at the table gave it a 4 out of 5...so it's going to be made again, that's for sure! One addition I made was to add some garlic powder to the soup when mixing it, and seasoned the chicken with salt & pepper. Also meant to take a picture, but it looked so good, we just dug in! LOL

Pizza Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
This is excellent. My kids usually won't eat food that is "all mixed up", but they ate this and asked for seconds. Same with hubby...he's very much a meat, veggie and potato man, but he loved this! I'm making it again tonight because it's fast & easy and we're in a rush :-)))

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
Absolutely fabulous!! I whipped it, once cooled to use as a filling for my daughter's birthday cake. Couldn't resist a taste and it blew my socks off! use the best chocolate you can find. I live in a small town, so I'm limited, but I used Swiss bittersweet and it was fantastic!

Rolled Fondant

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
This recipe is identical to the one from the Wilton yearbook...I give it five stars because the Wilton one worked out, so this one would too. I used the gel food colouring instead of liquid for more accurate colouring...added while kneading the dough.

Bodacious Brownies

Excellent brownie recipe and ultra-easy to prepare, too! The pan didn't make it through dinner, I'm ashamed to admit! lol I will definately make this again.

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
Excellent!! I haven't made quiche since high school home economics class (too many years ago to mention) and this recipe was just as I remember quiche tasting. I will make this again for sure. It was a hit with the family at a birthday brunch - even my husband ate it, which is something!

Emily's Famous Hash Browns

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
I really like this recipe for hash browns. It's different from my other recipe I use (and have subsequently lost). I only used about 1/4 cup oil instead of the 1 cup the recipe called for as I figured it would be too greasy. Next time I think I will add a little garlic and some cheese. Good recipe you could do anything with.

Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
Very good, quick baked chicken recipe. Not overpowering in the least in the garlic department. I didn't have seasoned breadcrumbs and I suppose I didn't add adequate amounts of seasoning on my own, so it was a tad bland, but everyone liked it and that's the main thing. I'll make it again for sure!

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
This was absolutely amazing! I had some apples in the fridge I wanted to use up and didn't have the five cups called for, but made it anyway. I cut back just a bit on the sugar, flour and butter but actually added 1 tsp of cinnamon instead of 3/4 tsp as called for (we love cinnamon). The family asked when I was going to make it again!

Pecan Pie Bars I

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
Made these for the first time today, for Christmas. The taste was great and it was easier than anything to put together, but I found after following another cook's suggestion of making 24 instead of 36 and using a 9 x 13 pan, they didn't set after 25 minutes of baking. I baked them for about 5 minutes longer and I had to cut the edges off them because they went hard. All in all though, I would make them again...very good!

French Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
While these are good, I really didn't notice much different between them and the fries we already make. We don't soak ours at all...merely cut washed potatoes into fries, dry them off and put them in the deep fryer and they come out crispy and good. While I wouldn't use the recipe again, it's not because I didn't like it, per se....I just didn't see any difference in the finished product.

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
Sensational. I have yet to serve these to guests (they're coming tomorrow), but my husband and I tried a couple of these and we love them. He could not find regular chile sauce at our grocery store, so he came home with chile/garlic and it was rather good. I made the recipe as quoted, put the meatballs in their sauce in a casserole dish into the fridge and plan to reheat in the oven. I'm looking forward to hearing what my guests have to say. Excellent recipe for cocktail/appetizer party.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
Exellent recipe for sugar cookie icing! I did have to double it and it was very hard to mix. Doubled, the recipe called for 2 tbsp of corn syrup, but I ended up having to put in much more to get the consistency, as well as a little more milk than called for. In the end though, it was a perfect icing, easily spreadable! Thanks!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
Every year, I attempt sugar cookies at the request of my children and every year, I get frustrated because no matter what I do, the dough sticks, I can't get the "figures" off the countertop, and the entire dough recipes gets thrown out. NOT THIS YEAR!!! This recipes was awesome for rolling out, and thanks to the reviews of others, I tried something different: rolled it out on parchment paper dusted with icing sugar and sugared the top of the dough as well as the rolling pin...it rolled and cut like a breeze! When it came time to take the cookies off the parchment, I simply peeled away the uncut dough and peeled back the parchment a little, and the cookie came right off, unbroken, unstretched and perfect. Thank You for posting this Jill..you are my hero!!

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This was the first time making these cookies and they were absolutely wonderful. My children are my taste-testers when I try something new and they gave it a big two thumbs up! My only "complaint" if you can call it that is the recipe was to make 72 and I only got 57, and I didn't make them huge. Oh well! This one is definitely a keeper!

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
This recipes was very good and even my husband who loves the scalloped potatoes I've been making for years, liked these ones. The sauce seems to be creamier and tastes "lighter" (for lack of a better word). I suppose the caloric and fat content would be lower in this recipe than my original recipe because it uses chicken broth instead of milk. Fat content would be lowered even further by using low-fat chicken broth. An excellent, easy recipe I know I'll use again!!
