Gramma Bertha's Banana Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
very very good cake...very moist and full of flavour. I put in less sugar because my dad is diabetic, and added vanilla essence. Also because my oven cannot be set to 175 degrees C, i set oven temperature at 180 and baked for about 50 mins. it came out wonderful! just make sure to watch the timing, because you may not need the full amount of time stated in this recipe to get that lovely golden brown colour on the cake. Advice when serving to cut away the crust around the sides because it tends to get real dry

Jewish Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
This cake is fantastic! The proportions are just right. I removed the nuts in the filling 'cos my family doesn't like nuts, and added just one tsp more vanilla essence. Cake came out moist and creamy. I also made a cream cheese frosting to spread on top. So the cake has to be kept in the fridge, but it tastes good both hot and cold! Will be making this again

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2010
this is a great pound cake, especially for beginners! the crumb is firm and moist, the crust is crispy and sweet. i had extra batter left, so i made it into muffins and baked for 45 minutes. a sweet treat for children. watch the time carefully: my cake actually collapsed in the middle when i tried to revert it onto a rack for cooling! Serving suggestion: try serving with a warm berry sauce, made by heating seedless berry jam of your choice until its smooth, then adding a light orange liqueur until you like the taste. Enjoy!

Garlic Bread Spread

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
This was an absolute winner at the recent bbq i had with a group of friends. i followed the recipe almost exactly, though i played around with the herbs since i didn't have everthing on hand. Then since there was no toaster at the bbq, i applied the spread on slices of baguette, wrapped them individually with aluminium foil, and tossed them on the bbq grill for 5 minutes. they came out toasty and warm and cheesy, and people couldn't stop raving about it. An absolute keeper!
