Brownie Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
My husband absolutely loves cheesecake. He has always preferred a graham cracker crust, but after having this he said that he would never want me to make anything but a brownie crust. This was so easy and SO good! My only comment would be to let the brownie crust cool a bit before pouring the cheescake mix in. I poured it in right out of the oven, and pieces of the brownies dislodged and ended up in the batter. Still good though!

Crab Quiche I

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
Loved this! I made this as directed but with 2 cans of lump white crab meat since others said more crab was better. It was wonderful! It was so quick and easy to make, and tasted delicious. We had some for dinner one night, and the following day we had the leftovers for brunch.

Molasses Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
Oh my gosh, these were so good! I didn't let the shortening cool all the way before I mixed it, but just enough so it didn't cook the egg. Being liquidy helped make the mixing easier. Also, since I was low on all-purpose flour I used half of that and half whole wheat flor. They were wonderful! My five year-old like them so much he kept stealing dough the whole time I was trying to put them on the cookie sheet.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
I've made these twice now, and the kids and husband eat them right up. Instead of making the pretzel shape, I save time by rolling the dough into small balls and making pretzel nuggets. I do add butter after baking like others do. But either way they're wonderful!

Lemon Poppy Seed Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2010
This is very much like my favorite lemon poppy seed bread recipe that I've misplaced. I added 1 1/2 tsp of almond extract to the bread mix and 1/2 tsp to the glaze. Just like I remembered, very flavorful!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Wonderful recipe! Every time I used to make banana bread my husband use to say that his mother made great banana bread, maybe I should call her for the recipe. After I served this for him, he stopped saying that. That's proof enough for me! I've also made these with chocolate chips sprinkled on the top, and I've frozen them with great results.

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
My husband requested that I make him macaroons, so after making a recipe from one of my cookbooks which turned out more like merengue cookies, I tried this. Every time he eats them he tells me how wonderful they are!

Layered Chicken and Black Bean Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Wonderful recipe. I've made it both for my family and for guests and received compliments both times. I was worried that the tortilla shells might make it a little chewy, but they soften up so much that thye become like cooked pasta. Next time I'm going to add some black olives to the top too.

Garlic Prime Rib

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Very flavorful recipe, I did find though that mine turned out a little dry. Because I cooked it as stated in the recipe (which took MUCH longer than stated and mine was only 8lbs) by the time it had sat out for a few minutes with the temperature still rising it was overcooked. I would recommend taking it out at a slightly lower temp.

Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce III

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Great recipe! Very moist and tasty. My husband loved this, and since there was more sauce than we needed for the bread pudding, he now puts the sauce on his ice cream!

Ghirardelli® Individual Chocolate Lava Cakes

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
I found this recipe in an ad in one of my magazines. I've made it many times, and my guests always ask for the recipe. It's wonderful and comes out great every time. I like spreading a little raspberry sauce around the bottom of the plate to make a nice presentation and add a little something extra to the taste. I've even made the batter ahead of time, put it in the individual dishes, and then refrigerated it for several days. Pop it in the oven and they still come out great!

Acorn Squash with Apple

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I made this for Thanksgiving dinner since my sister-in-law had asked me to bring some type of acorn squash dish. It was great, everyone complimented me on it. The apples added a nice touch. To cook the squash I cut it in half, baked them in the oven with some brown sugar and butter, and when it had soften and cooled, I was able to scoop the squash right out of the skin.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
This dish has real potential. It has great flavor, but I ended up increasing the bacon and should have reduced the potatoes and the amount of dumpling mix. It's more of a potato stew with chicken and dumplings as is.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
I made this exactly as written with one exception. When I opened my package of chicken breasts they had already gone bad, so in a pinch I got out a bag of frozen grilled chicken strips and chopped them up for the recipe instead. It was wonderful! The recipe was moist without being runny, my husband and kids ate it up! If you have any leftover veggies I'm sure you can throw them in too. I think I'll always make it with the grilled chicken breast strips, since I won't have to worry about using the chicken in time, and it's cheaper too!

Spiced Applesauce Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
This is a very flavorful and moist bread. I had just made a big batch of homemade applesauce (very chunky) and so I tried this bread with my applesace. It was great! The chunks of apple were a nice treat in it.

Sausage Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
My 5 year old gave this recipe a 10 thumbs up, and my 6 year old asked for 4 helpings! This was so easy to make, that the sauce was ready by the time I had the noodles cooked. To save time on a busy day, I mixed the noodles and sauce together and put them in a casserole dish, then put it in the oven with the delay timer on and it was ready for us when we got home. Some of the reviewers said it was bland, some even mention the 'kielbasa'. I can only think that they used the wrong sausage. This actually calls for a roll of breakfast sausage, it if you use what it calls for it's amazingly flavorful!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Truly a great lasagna recipe, I love the sauce, very authentic tasting. I like the recipe even better when I use cottage cheese instead of ricotta, and use the no boil noodles, but boil them ahead of time (wierd, I know).
