Bacon and Date Appetizer
Great premise, but the dates were more pliable (and more easily stuffed) when briefly dipped into hot water before slicing them. In deference to the holder folks with slipperty teeth, I used two strips of almonds rather than a full almond. Deli bacon is best, but I still cut off the excess fat, and then baked them instead of broiling.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
First time success. I did amend the ingredients to the joy of everyone: Added a layer of gorgonzola near the top for additional complexity. Sprinkled some cooked bacon in the middle. Used some grated 3-cheese mix for the top to help form a crust. A few splashes of tabasco sauce gave some pop to the sauce. Cutting the potatoes uniformly and thinner with the food processor ensured even cooking. Cool - thanks!

Cranberry Salad II
It was a very good recipe, but I cooked a bit longer and then added diced kumquats (skin and all) for an interesting twist. Make certain to drain the pineapple THOROUGHLY or the dish will look like soup.
