Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

This was a nice change from using cream soup. It had a very simple old fashioned flavor. We all loved it.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2013
This cake in amazing! Moist and chocolaty. I used a 9x13 glass baking dish and it took 35 minutes. I topped it with the creamy chocolate frosting from this site and it's one of the best cakes I've ever tasted! Even my husband, who is really good about staying away from sweets has been nibbling on it.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2013
This is a wonderfully light and fluffly frosting! My family loved it. Not sickly sweet either. I used half and half instead of the canned milk.

Hot Water Pie Crust II

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
This recipe turned out fantastically...tender and flaky! I've had nothing but trouble with cold pie crust recipes so I was excited to try this recipe. I did end up refrigerating the dough before handling it and I rolled it out between sheets of saran wrap. So easy and so tasty! This is now my go to recipe for pie crust.

Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
This is my go to fudge recipe. It turns out better for me than the stovetop versions. It doesn't get that grainy texture that fudge sometimes gets. I think the trick is to stir it a couple of times during cooking and don't overcook it. As soon as its melted, pull it out. I also line my pan with greased heavy duty foil (that's all I buy anymore), for easy cleanup. Everyone asks me to make my fudge every year, so I'd say the recipe is awesome!

Ranch Dressing II

I love love love this ranch recipe! It's even better with fresh herbs. If you use fresh herbs, make sure to add more than what's called for in the recipe. Yummy!

Spaghetti Pie II

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2014
This recipe is a fun spin on spaghetti night. It's a versatile recipe that's easy to adjust with what you have on hand. I've made it from scratch and from leftovers. I've added the cottage cheese and left it out. It's seems to turn out tasty no matter what I do.

Sour Cream Apple Pie Deluxe

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
This was so easy to make. I had some Gala Apples to use up, so I thought the sour cream would balance out the sweetness of the apples. Boy was I right! Turned out deliciously.

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
These are wonderful, much tastier than their canned counterparts. I love the recipe as is, but I do change a couple of things to suit my family's tastes. I use beef broth instead of water and so I don't add any additional salt. I also used jarred jalapeno's instead of fresh. I don't use jalapeno's much, so I keep a jar in the fridge for the few times I do need them. I also don't ever end up needing to drain the beans before mashing them. The small amount of liquid left just makes them creamy. YUMMY! Thanks for the great recipe!

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
This recipe was awesome...easy to make and it turned out perfectly. I was looking for a whipped cream frosting that wouldn't slide off the cake at room temp and this recipe did not disappoint! BTW- I followed the recipe without changing a thing.

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2014
This was an easy way to use up my browning bananas before hitting the store! They were delicious and moist. I did sub 1/4 cup of the white sugar with brown and added a tsp of vanilla. I used a 12 muffin non-stick pan and it only took 22 min. My 17 year old daughter loved them.

This is an easy recipe that is a go to for me when I have a pound of ground beef to use up. I love the gravy over mashed potatoes so I double it so there's plenty.

This was easy and did the job...but it was a little bland. Next time I'll add some garlic powder and italian seasoning to flavor it up a bit.

Low Fat Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2013
Good as a base recipe. I ended up adding more garlic and onion powder. I also used about a tablespoon each of the fresh chives and parsley. I didn't have fresh dill, so I used 1 teaspoon of dried. It was pretty good, but I think next time I'll use less parsley and more chives.
