Then there is my interest in tigers and their plight. Okay, I have more interests than I can keep up with, but its never boring.
My favorite things to cook
Southern home cooking, Italian and Mexican. Experimenting with tasty healthy recipes. I love finding new ways to cook ordinary things and make it interesting. I love using spices and experimenting with the flavors. Cooking is like my art. I love to create.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Southern. Breaded and fried. And trying to make more healthy choices that will taste as good. Old family recipes passed down from my Mother and Grandmother. They were the best and taught me well. I love using fresh vegetables. I love cooking that requires everything fresh or from scratch without a lot or shortcuts. I like recipes tin a lot of ingredients with spice, onions, peppers, etc. I want flavor.
My cooking triumphs
Almost all of my recipes turn out well that I make up. I seem to have developed a knack of blending spices. I take basic recipes and tweak them. My greatest dish as far as all my family and friends, and myself, are concerned is my spaghetti sauce. I have had some great success with my pressure cooker, especially with pork loin roast with poblano peppers.
My cooking tragedies
Where I seem to have the most problems is in Asian cooking. I haven't mastered the spices and what goes with what. That has probably been the worst.
