Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
AMAZING!!!! These were sweet and just perfect. I like a particularly sweet cornbread, so I added more sugar. I also am on a gluten-free diet and had to substitute for that. I used King Arthur Gluten-free All Purpose flour (same amount) and added a 1/2 tsp of Xanthan Gum. The cornbread rose nicely and was moist and not crumbly (a typical problem with gluten-free baked goods). Just perfection!!! THANK YOU!! I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to find a good cornbread recipe ever again. My husband even said it is better than its "gluteny" counterpart. This will be my staple cornbread recipe from now on.

Breadsticks with Parmesan Butter

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
Easy, versatile recipe! I used a pizza cutter to cut the dough. Made quick work in dividing it up. I have made these with a parmesan cheese topping and with a cinnamon sugar topping. They are delicious either way!

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
I was looking for the ultimate soft pretzel recipe, but after making this I realized that the recipe I'm looking for requires a sourdough. If you like Auntie Anne's pretzels, then you'll really like these. If you are looking for something more traditional, I suggest you search out a sourdough soft pretzel recipe.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
Unimpressed. I'm shocked that these get 5 stars from anyone. They are ok as an option if you've run out of Bisquck, but I rock the Bisquick pancakes (Supreme pancake version) and will continue to make them that way. These are not light and fluffy. They did rise nicely, but they are quite dense.

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
Made this bread tonight and it's divine!!! The whole loaf will likely be gone before the night ends. There is only one slice left. I didn't make this in the bread machine because my machine consistently causes bread to collapse. I made the dough in it. When done, I kneaded it on a floured surface a few times then put it in a well-greased bread pan (standard size). I put it in the oven that was preheated (200 deg for 5 minutes and then turned off) to let it rise. Then when it had risen enough, I baked it at 350 for about 25 minutes. It probably should have baked just a tad longer (maybe 5 more minutes) - could be due to having it in there during the preheat process. The bread was tasty and soft. I'll definitely be making this again!

15-Minute Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
I LOVE this marinade. Though, to be honest, I don't really use it as a marinade. I put the chicken and the "sauce" in a pan and let it cook that way. It is a very sharp taste as a result. But I really like it that way. It's a staple recipe in our house - even the kids eat it up!

Easy Valentine Sandwich Cookies

These cookies are delicious!!! I, however, did not use the frosting center, I put heated raspberry jam in between the cookies and it was amazing!

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
Divine!!! I, too, was skeptical about the mountain dew, but it really adds a nice touch. I added orange juice once when I didn't have mountain dew, and I didn't really like how it came out at all. This recipe is perfect as it is. Perfect with some vanilla ice cream! Never lasts long and everyone always raves about it!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
AMAZING pound cake!!!! I made it exactly as written and it was amazing. Then, I made it with a few alterations based on other reviews and it was HEAVENLY!!!! I used cake flour instead of all-purpose and added 2 tsp of vanilla extract instead of 1 tsp. The texture and flavor were SO MUCH better. Very velvety. Make sure your cream cheese and butter are at room temperature and that you beat well with the sugar. Take your time and make sure it's really fluffy. I've only used loaf pans to make the pound cake. It will make two pans worth. Give this recipe a try! You won't be sorry you did!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
Despite all the rave reviews, I had little confidence on this being a worthwhile recipe. Happily, I was proven wrong. In fact, this just might be the ONLY spaghetti sauce I'll ever use from here on out. Just perfect!! Even the kids loved it. To top it off, I have plenty left over to freeze for suture meals.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
A quick and easy pizza dough recipe that makes a nice thick dough. I did proof the yeast only because I can't imagine not doing so. I also added italian seasoning, onion powder and garlic powder. This will become a staple.
