About this Cook
I started cooking with the McCall's Cooking School subscription-based cook-books back when I was in Junior High. I LOVED making things like Coq au Vin for the family though my timing was often a bit off and what would normally be a one plate dinner, would become a series of courses. I'd like to think things are a bit better now. :-)
My favorite things to cook
This may sound weird, but I'm always after a better way to cook a good steak. Deceptively simple, yet tough to get a good one from a home cook. I think I'm getting it down and love to surround it with some tasty sides. I also really love cooking sushi and have a passion for mixology!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Each year, I usually make a Buche de Noelle, based on a recipe given to me in High School from my favorite French teacher. It's gone through some evolution, but is still essentially a good approximation of what you might find in France. I also used to cook the holiday turkey/goose with my father-in-law and really miss that time we had together. Finally, I'm usually the designated bar-tender which I'm always very happy to handle.

Gin and Tonic
I love a good G&T, but the real differentiator is the ingredients! Good gin (Hendricks, e.g.), good tonic (Q Tonic) and (this is actually big) squeeze 1/2 of a washed key lime into it and garnish with a key lime wedge. Oh, and make sure your ice is good. I usually use store-bought to avoid funky refrigerator ice taste. Experient and enjoy!!!!
