Gourmet White Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
Great flavors - I used homemade crust that I baked to almost brown before adding the toppings. Next time I am going to reduce the amount of Alfredo sauce and let it cook a bit longer b/c it came out a little soggy.

Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
Super Yummy with a few changes. I could only find 1.5 lb flank steak so I went with that and like others, halved the brown sugar, put the green onions in after two hours, and threw in some broccoli florets towards the end. The one thing I did which I think totally made the dish was throw in two teaspoons of Asian Chili Garlic Sauce (Lee Kum Kee). The slight kick balanced out the sweetness of the sauce PERFECTLY. Of course, you can add more or less depending on your taste but I had to make it kid friendly. Overall a great meal.

Pastitsio II

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
I know that every greek thinks their family makes the best pastitsio or moussaka or sponakopita (or insert recipe title here) but I was not thrilled by this one at all. This recipe is tasty but not authentic at all. Itis less of a pastitsio and more of a lazy lasagna. Any pastitsio that does not call for cinnamon is usually a bit off. As I said, it is a yummy dish more or less but I believe misses the flavors of an authentic pastitsio.

Baked Penne with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Okay so this is a good base but definitely needs A LOT more in the spice department. I can't even really tell you how much I used of my spices because I just kept adding and adding to get it to have some sort of flavor. I also used 1.5 pounds of Sausage, omitted the diced tomatoes, and used a jar of my family's favorite four cheese pasta sauce. So I guess I changed quite a bit but overall this is a great base. Also, definitely make sure you rinse the pasta in cold water so it stops cooking!

Jeanie's Falafel

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
We loved this super easy recipe...I did add an egg to it though which created the perfect consistency. I also baked the Falafel because we did not want to leave it sitting in the vegetable oil!

Green Bell Peppers stuffed with Tomato Lentil Couscous

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
This was super yummy - I love stuffed peppers and Couscous... what great combination! We used whole grain couscous because that is what I had in my pantry. I also skipped chopping an additional green pepper for the mixture. This made way more than five peppers but that is probably bc my peppers were rather small. Definitely a keeper!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
WOW! Used 5.5 chuck roast also added carrots, onion, celery and potatoes. Definitely happy that I took another raters review and seared the meat first then cooked it on high for 4 hours and low for 2. I also used 99% fat free cream of mushroom and added some worcestershire sauce. The meat was so tender, everyone told us it was the best pot roast they had ever eaten. The gravy was a bit thin so I thickened it up with some flour...it was perfect!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
Everyone raved about this pie! I made a few changes, light cool whip only 12 ounces, 2% milk, and made my own crust by crushing chocolate graham crackers with nutter butter cookies and pressing them into a pie pan after mixing with melted butter. Absolutely delicious. Garnished with chopped peanut butter cups! Yum..and everyone loved it

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
Love Love Love! Decided not to use walnuts and raisins (more kid friendly) but this apple pie was hands down the best I have ever made. I am not even a big apple pie person but was amazed at how good this was. Also, I took the suggestions from others and added a bit more flour to thicken the filling. This was so good that I made five extra pies for my husband to bring to his deploying soldiers!
