Best Bread Machine Bread

Just ok. Crust was good, golden but not as lite and airy as expected. Will keep as a backup recipe but not excited about it.

Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Was suprised how good this is! Made this to give to a friend. She loved it!!! Added approx 1/4 cup more sugar and 1/3 cup flour (my bread machine always seems to need more flour than called for for a good dough ball). This is fantastic toasted. Am making it for the 3rd time, wonderful toasted and with strawberry preserves.

Orange Herb Roasted Chicken

Almost perfect. It smells GREAT when cooking. Gave it 4 stars - a little too much rosemary for our taste and next time it needs a little more orange.

Strawberry Cake and Frosting I

Great recipe. Was moist & you could taste the strawberries. Made it for daughter's birthday, she loved it. Frosted with strawberry cream cheese icing. Definitely will make again!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Ok, not really special. Made according to recipe. Turned out dry and not extremely chocolaty as I expected. It was easy to put together but won't go out of my way to make again.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

A good full grain bread. First loaf turned out a little dry and heavy for our taste. On 2nd loaf I used 1 Cup bread flour and 2 Cups whole wheat and added an additional 1/4 cup honey during the last kneeding cycle. Turned out GREAT. Definitely will make again and again. May add raisins or toasted pine nuts to the next loaf.

Roasted Lemon Herb Chicken

This is a keeper recipe. Made as directed except only had chicken breasts, not the whole chicken. Loosely covered in foil, for 30 minutes, basted and turned down oven to 300 until rest of dinner was done (15 minutes or so). Husband and son loved the lemon flavor, the oil helped it not to dry out. I added about 1 Tblspn of Tarragon vinegar to lemon juice & oil, gave it a little depth. Will definitely serve again, good enough for company.

Kahlua® Pumpkin Cheesecake

Made this twice now. Followed recipe to the letter. HUGE crack in top of cheesecake both times. Would have given 5 stars but for that and it could be a little sweeter.

Cranberry Chicken II

Made this tonight - loved it and my 15 year old picky eater had seconds! Only had one envelope of soup mix so added dried minced onions and 3 cubes beef bullion, crushed with another 1/2 C of french dressing. LOVED IT! This is on the keeper list.

Extra Easy Hummus

Made this for Bible Study there was very little left. Good taste without being heavy, I added a little lemon zest and more minced garlic, used some reserved juice from the beans & EVOO. Wonderful - is definately a keeper.

Apricot Brandy Pound Cake I

This is my new go-to recipe. Easy to make, smells delish, looks great out of the pan and tastes wonderful. Have made it several times and not a crumb left over! I made a glaze of Powdered Sugar, a dash of lemon extract, almond extract (or vanilla), and either the apricot nectur or apricot brandy. Drizzled over the cake - YUMMO!!!

Marinated Flat Iron Steak

Fabulous recipe! Followed the suggestion of less honey (2 T) and family doesn't like rosemary so substituted with Italian Seasoning. Turned out tender and flavorful. Picky eater son even had seconds! Definately a keeper.

Grilled Pork Chops with Fresh Nectarine Salsa

LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Have made it several times to take to homebound friends - all with great reviews. Finally made it for the family - oh my. Only added a bit cayanne pepper to the salsa, other than that it's great! Definately a keeper

Chicken-Prosciutto Bundles

Only OK not fantastic for the amount of work. Did add extra basil & cheese but was bland except for the prosciutto. May try again with Havarti cheese or another that had a taste to it.

Lemon Garlic Hummus

Good recipe. Was looking for something lighter tasting in a hummus for the office. Read reviews and used EVOO instead of water. Also used 2 cans of chick peas instead of 2 cups (didn't want to waste the little bit left over). Added a splash of the juice from the chick peas and followed the previous recommendations of adding extra lemon juice until it tasted good. Also added a squirt of lime juice just to give is a little tang. Office loved it - gone in a flash. Definately a keeper recipe. Only 4 stars because it needed more lemon & zing to make it pop.
