About this Cook
My parents started teaching me to cook when I was young, maybe 6 years old. In university I was the one teaching my roommates how to make simple dishes like pasta, stir fry, etc. I like to dabble in new recipes but usually stick with my old favourites.
My favorite things to cook
Lasagna, mustard-lemon chicken, ribs, cabbage rolls, meatballs... Also, any any kind of dessert, especially if it`s got chocolate in it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad used to make this fantastic meatloaf that had hard boiled eggs all the way down the middle, and was surrounded in pastry. Yum! My mom, on the other hand, once made fudge that was so hard the knife snapped in half when she tried to cut it.
My cooking tragedies
My sister calls me "Destroyer of Pork" because on more than one occasion I've burned pork to a crisp. Also for some reason I once combined rice-a-roni with baked beans. It did not end well.

Czech Cabbage Dish
Admittedly, part of the reason I didn't enjoy this dish is that I expected something different. I was expecting a nice savoury, oniony, bacony dish. Maybe I did something wrong but mine just turned out like vinegary coleslaw with bacon in it, and WAY too much black pepper. It was just OK - I ate some and put the rest in the fridge for later, but it would up getting thrown out as we couldn't be bothered to eat it. I won't be making this again.
