Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
This is good stuff. This is probably a sacreligious idea to sausage gravy purists, but I like to fry an egg and lay it over the biscuit and then put the gravy on top. But of course, just the plain biscuits and gravy is fabulous as well.

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
Excellent recipe. The coating stayed on, and they were just fabulous. I am experiencing mild depression now that winter is coming and green tomatoes are almost a thing of the past.

Spiced Butternut Squash Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
Like some other reviewers, I had issues with them sticking to the cupcake liners. The flavor was okay, but the texture was somewhat tough. I know better than to overmix muffin batter, so it wasn't that. I was disappointed and no one is eating them.

Indian Style Sheekh Kabab

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
I have done this recipe twice -- once for the ground lamb as directed, and once using the ingredients as a marinade for lamb chops. Both times it was delicious and I became the heroine of the day.

Roasted Roma Tomatoes and Garlic

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
Oh my goodness. Instant favorite. So good! The only thing I disagree with is the idea that this could possibly serve four. Haha! I made a double batch and my other half and I demolished all but three halves. Roasting the tomatoes makes them like tomato candy.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
So good! Wow. I cut the cream cheese into little blocks and then froze it while I cut the peppers. I only needed half a bacon slice per pepper. After wrapping them and skewering them with toothpicks, I put them back in the freezer for about fifteen minutes to firm up. Then into a 400 degree oven for about 25 minutes. Let them cool for 5-10 minutes while draining on paper towels. Will definitely be getting heavy rotation on my appetizer list!

Oven Baked Zucchini Fries

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
This is absolutely fantastic! I love the deep-fried zucchini you get at some restaurants, but some places make it too greasy. This is so much better. I used panko bread crumbs, and to dip I made garlic aioli from another recipe on this site. No trouble eating up the zucchini neighbors leave on my porch! ;-)

Karen's Salmon Salad

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
This was excellent! The ingredients compliment that salmon, which is the star of the show. I found nothing boring about it, as mentioned by another reviewer. I had this for lunch today, and it was wonderful. I also added some vidalia onion for crunch and capers instead of the pickles.

Clone of a Pretzel Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
Excellent! I didn't have raspberry jelly but it worked well with apricot. Seems to me it would make an excellent glaze for ham as well! Good stuff.

Butterscotch Oatmeal

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
Like another reviewer said, I used to choke down oatmeal. It was the sort of thing I kept at my desk at work when I ran late, and scraped out of a styrofoam cup while dreaming of something appetizing. This is good stuff. This is the kind of thing I'll be making in double batches to take to work and eat happily.

Spoiled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2010
This was very good. I had a huge rack of ribs and there were two recipes on here that I wanted to try, and this one was the winner. Thanks for sharing your recipe, although perhaps the name of it could be tweaked to make it sound more appetizing! ;-) The "spoiled" part sort of makes one wonder.

Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2010
This is a definite keeper. The minute I saw the title, I wanted to make it for the eclair lover in my life. I wasn't interested myself, but after licking the spoon when I mixed the milk/pudding/cool whip together, there was no way I was going to pass it up. We couldn't even wait the four hours -- we finally broke into it after three. It was fantastic and will be getting regular rotation in my dessert menus.

Homemade Chicken Cacciatore, Sicilian-Style

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
This is just excellent. The flavor is fantastic -- I used all fresh garlic rather than the garlic salt, and I didn't have the Burgundy (although I bet that makes it fantastic) but it was utterly divine nonetheless. When you get raving compliments from an 11-year-old who is not related to you, you know it's good stuff. ;-) Thanks so much for sharing this. It's excellent and even though I just had it last week I'm craving it again already!

Mini Cheesecakes III

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
Excellent! And this yields the perfect amount, too. I've always wanted to make cheesecake, but it's not like I have a big family and I knew if I made an entire one I'd probably be the one eating it. ;-) This is perfect and the consistency and flavor are fantastic! I love the crumb crust. Thanks a bunch for sharing this!

Oh my goodness, yum. I never thought of putting apricot jelly on cheesecake, but I like them both so I decided to give it a try. Definitely a keeper! Thanks so much!

Garlic Parmesan Orzo

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2010
Excellent! My test kitchen approved -- they all wanted seconds! Instead of orzo, I used rice (1.5 cups long grain, 3 cups hot water, 1.5 Tbsp butter and microwave on 70% for 15 minutes) and it turned out wonderfully. I used it as a side for Chicken Cacciatore.

Lemon Ice

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
Holy diabetic coma, Batman! Way too much sugar. A real shame, and a waste of lemons. Fortunately I had some plain seltzer water, so I made fizzy lemonade. It wasn't a total loss, but very disappointing.

Cucumber-Avocado Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
When I first made this, it seemed like it was missing something. But after I let it sit in the fridge a few hours and allowed the flavors to mingle, well... that was pretty much all it needed! Good stuff! :-) In addition to using as a salad dressing, it works great as a spread in a wrap with smoked salmon and sprouts.

Outrageous Creamy Garlic Salad Dressing

This has fast become one of my favorite salad dressing recipes and I can hardly keep it in the house! It works great on everything from just plain salad to onion rings to a veggie dip. Very versatile and very tasty. Thanks so much for sharing!
