About this Cook
I am a nurse working part time in Geriatrics. I love all animals and enjoy time with my husband, Chad my English Mastiff, Vash and my 2 kitties, Audrey and Furball. I started cooking/baking at a very young age and was taught by my grandmother, mother, and dad. I always say, "If you leave my house hungry, it's your own fault!" I also enjoy card making, painting and scrap booking. I also hang out on the beach a lot! Life is good!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
Before we moved away, me, my husband, Chad and my mother-in-law, Sue and my father-in-law, Ted would spend a weekend together in the middle of December to make cookies, candies, fudge and all kinds of Christmas goodies. We would always make enough for all of us to have for ourselves and to take and give to family and friends as well. There have been times that we have made over 30 different recipes! We each pick a recipe that we want to try along with our usual favorites and request's by family and friends! So much fun spending time together, drinking coffee or Tom and Jerrie's and listening to Christmas music!
My cooking tragedies
I made a very simple tuna casserole (not too long ago!) in an cast iron pot. The casserole tasted nothing like tuna. Just IRON! YUK! My husband and I threw it out and fixed a frozen pizza that night!

Banana Fritters
I usually LOVE anything banana, but not this recipe. To me and my husband, we just didn't think it had much flavor. The taste was really bland to us. I even added more banana's and then banana extract. Nothing helped. I won't be using this recipe again.

Evelyn's Rolled Sugar Cookies
I give this recipe 2 stars. My husband summed it up pretty well by saying, "they look like cookies, they smell like cookies, but they sure taste like nothing!" Also this batter was very sticky and hard to work even after refrigerating. I was looking for a soft, chewy, flavorful sugar cookie to make for Christmas. This was not the sugar cookie recipe for me.

Pumpkin Shortbread Bars
Pumpkin Shortbread bars rule! My husband and I love this recipe! I made just a few changes, such as I added 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of ginger, cloves and nutmeg. I also used 1 can of pumpkin instead of 1 cup. I put the pecans in the topping, not in the pumpkin batter. I will be making this again and again!! Thanks for sharing!
