Mike's Mushroom Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
SO GOOD! I cut the bread into slices before I read the directions. Oops! :) I just squished the bread in the middle to make a little bowls (instead of pulling it out). They came out just fine. I followed the filling recipe to a T and it was fantastic! We made it to accompany a pasta dish with a mushroom cream sauce. This could definitely could be a great afternoon snack as well. They are FULL and you will be too.

Stuffed Shells III

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
Perfection! I used another reviewer's suggestion and place the cheese mixture into a Ziplock bag and chilled it while I cooked the shells. It made it a lot easier to fill them later. I don't mix the sauce and leftover cheese. I just pour the sauce over the shells, sprinkle the cheese, and bake! Absolutely delicious. I have gotten compliments from everyone I have made this for. Thanks!

Creamy Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
Yum! It was definitely creamy and I like the flavor the Italian seasoning gave it. I like to try a new bread every time I make a pasta dish but this one will stay on my favorites. There is a distinct mayonnaise flavor for anyone who may not be a fan.

NuNu's and Hot Dogs

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
Rather bland flavor but could be a good base for a quick dinner anytime. Very easy to modify. My mom and 10 year old brother loved it as is so I gave the 4 but I will add some veggies and kick up the flavor next time. Thanks for the easy dinner idea!

Cheese Onion Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
Very good. I always use red onions and they were delicious in this recipe! I might bake the bread for 10-15 minutes to crisp it up a little before I broil it next time since it was very soft. There is also a distinct mayo flavor which was fine since I like mayo but cooks beware. :o) This will be a regular pasta accompaniment in our house.

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
Left out the corn starch because I didn't have any and just mixed the flour/bread crumbs/garlic salt together and dipped the cheese sticks in the egg, the the flour mixture, patted gently and once more in the egg and then flour mixture. A little messy but fun to make and they are yummy.Definite hit with the teenager in the house.

Grandma's Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
Absolutely amazing! I couldn't find black bean soup so I used the new Black Bean medley from Grillin Beans but the outcome was phenomenal. I topped with sour cream & chives and served it with cornbread. Delicious! We even added a little muenster to the leftovers. Will make over and over!

Marble Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
I agree with some of the other reviews with the cake being too dry but the flavor was okay.

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
I loved the idea of the casserole from scratch but the sauce was thin and rather flavorless. It was edible. We added garlic powder, fresh ground pepper, and sea salt to the finish product but it was dry. I will keep the recipe but fool with it a bit to try and make it better since tuna casserole is one of my hubby's favorites.

Eggplant Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
So yummy! I even forgot the cheese and the were delicious. I toasted the buns and topped them with romaine, tomatoes, ketchup, and spicy mustard. Delicious! I think muenster cheese next time will make them to die for! Be prepared though...the eggplant takes longer to fry than one would think. I used olive oil to fry them as well. Thanks!

New England Clam Chowder I

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
Excellent. Could have used more clams but the flavor was perfect. I used both cans of clam juice plus an extra splash from a bottle. Of course, I added more flour so the consistency remained the same. Will definitely keep this recipe in my collection!

Red Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
I added extra garlic and steak seasoning, plus some leftover chives. The potatoes were yummy but not my favorite. My boyfriend insisted on a 4 but he's a potato lover. :)

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
YUMMY!!! This cake was sweet and spongy and had a great color! Big hit with my dad. Strawberry cake is his birthday request every year and I decided to start making them from scratch when I took over for my mom. This was the only recipe I found for it but it was DELICIOUS! Thanks!

Strawberry Cake and Frosting II

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
I only made the frosting (used another recipe for the cake). I left out the coconut. The frosting was good and VERY sweet. It was not as thick as I would have liked. Not sure of what to add to fix that. Will make again next year though (for my dad since strawberry cake with strawberry frosting is always his birthday request). :)

Pasta Primavera

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
Yummy and a good way to get the kids to eat their vegetables. The flavor reminds me of Andy Capp's Cheddar Fries. haha Mix in extra corn, peas, shredded carrots, brocolli, whatever to make it more filling and nutritious. Very good!

Chunky Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
Very good. I served it in bread bowls and it was the perfect meal on a cold night. I used minced cilantro instead of parsley because I had it on hand and red skin potatoes. Yummy! Mash less if you like your soup really chunky. The Swiss gives it a phenomenal texture and taste. My mom loved it and she doesn't like Swiss cheese at all!

Chive Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
Absolutely amazing! I added an extra clove of garlic because we like our garlic bread strong and it was delicious! I stuck it in the broiler for an extra 5 minutes to get the top to a golden brown. The loaf was gone before the ziti bake!

Italian Tomato Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
This was very plain as is. I think if I make it again I will add some celery and maybe sliced black olives. Not a bad summer salad to go with food off the grill.

Chip Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
Can only give a three for the recipe as is. It tasted a bit bland to me. I added a bit more mayo, a clove of crushed garlic, and a generous dash of dried cilantro, plus a little extra milk to thin it out a bit. It became more of a garlic dip than onion but it was very good after the additions. Makes a very small dish so I would suggest doubling or tripling the batch if it is for a party. I also used red onion (they are our favorite!) Will make again.
