Old-World Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2015
I made this recipe using the listed ingredients. I didn't microwave anything. I dumped everything in my crocokpot and cooked on low overnight. I woke up to a delicious smell. Yes, it was sweet, but I didn't mind. I would make it again,. I thought it was tasty.

Quick Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2015
This is a good base recipe, a little tweaking and it's great. My cake was very good & moist, but I did make some changes. Instead of shortening I used mayonnaise. I also used 1/3 cup of sugar. In the topping I doubled the cinnamom. I would definately make this again.

Creamy Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2014
This bread was ok, nothing special. The banana flavor was very mild even though my bananas were very brown. The moistness was average and it did crumble when slicing. I will not be making this recipe again.

Mayonnaise Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2014
These were good. Quick & easy. Add the milk gradually, I didn't need the whole amount & you might not either. Oh, they don't rise much at all.

Chef John's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: May 25, 2013
Halved this recipe, & used kefir in place of the buttermilk. Pressed it into a rectangled & cut 4 square biscuits out of it. They were delicious. I would make them again.

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
It was alright. I probably won't make it again though. Even using Pace medium chunky salsa, it lacked any "umph" or zing. Maybe some added spices would help.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
This is good. The only change I made was that I used chicken breasts instead of pork.

Cauliflower Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2013
Awful. The cheese mixture just clumped up, never did melt & incorporate into the dish. will not make this again.

Gourmet Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2013
Delicious! The only oranges I could find were packed in light syrup. I didn't want to buy a bottle of salad dressing for just one recipe, so I used all mayonnaise instead. This is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing

Cranberry Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
1 cup of egg substitute equals 4 eggs. I made this using 4 eggs & a total of 3 cups of sugar, 1/2 brown & 1/2 white. I found that sugar amount to be just right. I put the nuts into the batter instead of on top of unbaked loaf. The cranberry taste was very mild. I had enough batter to make a 8X4 and a 9X5 loaf. I will definitely make this again. It was delicious.

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
Make the recipe as stated, me I wanted to avoid the strawberry gel & used the sugared, sliced strawberries in the freezer section. Unless you assembly the cake right before eating, the cake turns to mush. The flavors and presentation were good.I would make this again. It's a nice, easy dessert.

Christmas Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2012
Used all the recipe ingredients (added extra eggs), just put them in the pan differently. I layered the hash browns on the bottom of the pan, mixed the remaining ingredients together & poured it over the hash browns. I didn't refridgerate it but baked it right away. This is a keeper!

Warm Blue Cheese Dip with Garlic and Bacon

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2012
-Must love blue cheese- Used a good quality blue cheese & the flavor was predominate. Nice consistency, good flavor, if you like blue cheese. I don't not but my husband does. I made this for him. I would make it again.

I also roasted my carrots then sprinkled the cheese on while they were still hot. It was ok, nothing I'd make again.

Sweet and Savory Kale

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2012
The sauce the kale cooks in is outstanding! This is the first time I have eaten kale & I hated it. It is very, very tough. I will be making this again, but substituting spinach for the kale.

I don't know why mine did not rise. they all turned out flat-topped. I did not care for the flavor or the texture. I thought these were bland & tough. I wouldn't make these again.

Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
Very easy to make. Tastes good. Just keep in mind it isn't claiming to be a maple syrup clone. Very buttery tasting, in a good way! kinda caramelly tasting. We all liked it. The only change I made was to use maple flavoring instead of vanilla. And I left out the cinnamon.

Pretty good. Not very sweet. it's a good recipe for tweaking. I can see adding some cranberries, etc. or maybe some nuts to the topping. I will make it again, but I'll add in some extras next time.
