About this Cook
During my early childhood, I desperately wanted an Easy Bake Oven. Since I never got one, at the age of 8, I started baking, which ultimately led to a decades-long love affair with cooking for countless friends and family.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts are my forte but I am now focusing on perfecting my grilling skills. Cedar-planked grilling of meats and fish is one of my new-found and now preferred methods of cooking.
My cooking tragedies
My very first cake was a disaster! I was 8 years old and tried to make a cake from scratch using the recipe on the flour bag. The cake was undercooked and gooey and I mistakenly used ice cream topping thinking it was the same as cake frosting! Thankfully the experience did not ruin my desire to bake!!

Kiki's Borracho (Drunken) Beans
This recipe is way too salty! If (and that's a big IF) I make this recipe again, I will cut the salt down to one-fourth of what the recipe calls for. The dark beer was also not to our liking. If I make this recipe again, I will either leave out the beer or use a blonde instead of dark beer.

Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs
Best ribs I've ever made and super easy! I didn't have whiskey so I substituted cognac instead and the sauce was still delicious. This recipe is a definite keeper!!

Almond Green Beans
This recipe is simple, quick, and a nice combination of beans and tomatoes. I don't like canned vegetables because fresh or frozen always taste much better (using canned ingredients in this recipe is why I gave it a four instead of five star rating). The first time I made this recipe, I used fresh green beans and tomatoes from my garden but in the off-season, I use frozen green beans.
