Baked Maryland Lump Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
I live in Baltimore and believe me, we *know* our crab cakes. This recipe was great! I prefer the baked to fried, personally, though I'll eat either. My DH, who is much more picky, loved these as well. I subbed in FF Mayo and margarine to lessen some of the fat and make it a little more friendly to my current diet, but other than that the recipe was perfect.

Chili Seasoning Mix I

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
Just fixed this with some combo lean ground turkey/ground beef for a healthier chili. I'm on a diet program right now with very specific requirements and as much as I want to lose the weight, I hate giving up foods that I love and eating food that "feels like" diet food. This was perfect for the chili that made, with that little bit of heat to give it a good kick. Hubby even loved it, lean ground turkey and all. I only used about a tablespoon of the mix for 7 oz. of meat mixed with tomatoes, onions, etc. Next time I may add some cumin to the mix and cut back on the season salt. One thing I did was after everything had been prepared, I sprinkled a little powdered stevia on top and folded it in. It was a nice touch which makes me think I'll do it again. Either way, thanks for this great recipe!

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
This recipe is great! I've recently started a diet/program/whatever you want to call it that involves eliminating unnecessary additives and artificial ingredients and foods from your diet. My husband wanted tacos this afternoon and one look at the ingredients in the sauce and seasoning in the kit made me turn up my nose. MSG, sugar, corn syrup -- barely any seasoning. I swapped in this recipe with 93/7 lean ground beef and it was amazing! Even better than the seasoning packet in the taco kit. I made up a second batch of the spice to mix with tomato puree to make a "taco sauce" type addition to our meal. It all worked perfectly! Thanks for the recipe!

Dry Rub for All Occasions

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
Used this tonight on turkey cutlets. Very very good. Adjusted the recipe slightly using only 1 tbsp of paprika, and only a 1/2 cup of brown sugar as opposed to 1 1/2 cup. Rub was the perfect combination of spicy and sweet; can't wait to try it on some other meats or veggies! Served up with green beans, dinner rolls, and fresh strawberries for dessert. I like my food spicy so the sweet heat was good for me, but DH was gulping down his water. Might reduce the spice a little next time, maybe 3/4 tsp instead of a whole tsp. But as is with the adjustments to the brown sugar and paprika, I liked it just fine!

Good Burger

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2010
These were good! I cut the brown sugar in half and they were still a little too sweet. I might use even less next time. I, like another reviewed, subbed in worcestershire sauce for steak sauce, and I didn't really have any cajun seasoning on hand. But all in all, these were great. My husband loved them. An awesome alternative to traditional burgers!
