Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
I made this cheese cake for the 4th of July 2010. I baked it in a 9X13 so I could decorate it with fresh blueberries for stars & fresh raspberries for the stripes.. other then baking it in a different pan, I followed the recipe precisely. The end result was a cheesecake with several cracks (I had spread cool whip on my cooled off cheesecake so no big to do) that had an OUTSTANDING taste! It was definately a new york cheesecake! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe =)

Light Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2010
In my quest to find the perfect soft/chewy choc chip cookie, I never made cookies that DID NOT get devoured, until this recipe. These are not worth the ingredients, time or energy. Real easy to make but just not what I was looking for. When a 14 y/o boy turns his nose up at them, there is a serious problem! Cookies were too cake like. I did get 24 cookies as the recipe said. And I have NEVER heard of a recipe you can't double because they don't turn out right! Glad I didn't double it. I found my perfect cookies at nestle. 60 cookies gone in 1 day! I give credit where credit is due but these were pretty bad.

Country Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
This pound cake is EXCELLENT!!! I have made about 7 of these within a 2 wk time period. I make them & by the next day, its gone! When I made my first one I used 2 tsp vanilla extract because I do not keep any other extracts on hand. Needless to say, it was such a hit that I make them all like that- I have never used the lemon. To avoid over mixing (I'm really good for doing that) I stop using the mixer and I mix with a fork when its time to alternate the flour mixture & the milk. Placing it in a cold oven and waiting an hour and 20 minutes after you set the oven temperature makes for a PERFECT cake everytime! Thank you sooo much for this recipe. I will use this everytime!

Classic Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
EXCELLENT RECIPE!! Instead of shortening, I used veg. Oil. As for the butter flavor, I used 1 tsp of margerine. For the icing...I used one package of cream chz, 1 tsp vanilla & 1 c of powdered sugar...creamed it with the mixer and applied it to my (completely) cooled cake. It was great! Will definately make this again!

Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
i made these cookies..as a matter o fact, i just gathered them all and put them on a plate...the recipe makes a little more then what i wanted to try for the first time..so i used 1 1/2 c margerine (i am out of butter at the moment) 1 1/2 c brwn sug 1 1/2 c all purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp baking soda 3 c oats....i DID NOT roll them in sugar (for me, the cookies are sweet enough w/out the excess sugar) nor did i smash them down on the cookie sheet with a glass...the dough came out wet so i didn't bother trying to make little balls out of them so i just spooned them onto the cookie sheet, threw them in the oven for 10 mins on 350 degrees, i got about 4 dzn cookies 2 inchs in size. after baking the first 2 dzn, i added 1 1/2 cup of raisins to the remaining dough...baked at the same temp for the same time and the result was nothing less then perfection!! this recipe is definately a keeper!! this is great for anyone on any baking level!! thank you for sharing it :)

Moist Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
i made this cake for the first time yesterday. i made it for a 13 y/o boys birthday party..i used all purpose flour...huge mistake..as the cake cooled, it shrank. i mixed it too long with my elecric mixer...if i had mixed it by hand after i added the eggs i am sure i would have had a different outcome...i am going to make it again with cake flour next time..and i am sure it will be wonderful!! using the all purpose flour, it was way too dense..however it was very moist and not in the least bit "corn bread like". cake flour for any and all cakes is the key!! while i was disapointed, everyone else liked it and that's the big thing. the recipe does make one cake and 12 cupcakes. i used the cupcakes to sample before the party for those that couldn't wait to taste the cake...i gave this 5 stars because it was MY error..for not putting the mixer down..if i had follwed the directions, all would have been well. i will write another review after i use cake flour. baking and cooking is all about trial and error!! nothing more, nothing less!!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
These muffins are EXCELLENT!! My first time making them, I doubled the recipe. I did not have fresh blueberries so I used frozen blueberries. (I did that the berries before i added them to the mix) The second time I made them I used frozen blackberries. Both times, they were wonderful. My husband shared them with his co workers and my son shared them with some neighbors. I will use this recipe over and over again and again!!
