Apricot Cream Cheese Thumbprints

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2001
These are really easy and really good - I used strawberry preserves... It's a little sweet but I'm still obsessed!

Dill and Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2003
This is really good, but I think you need to serve it with really flavorful crackers, or it could be a little bland. Good though, I love dill. Don't put in too much garlic powder by mistake, like me! MMmmmmm

North Italian Meat Sauce (Ragu Bolognese)

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
If you're looking for a red sauce, this is not it! It's very rich, very very good. I pureed the chicken livers - but I don't know if they were necessary. A cuisinart definitely helps in the chopping! This isn't a saucy sauce, either, by the way, but I loved the depth of the flavor. This sauce freezes extremely well - I froze it with the mini rigatoni(single servings), and by microwaving it, the sauce soaked into the rigatoni (my favorite for bolognese sauces). My boyfriend asked if I kept the recipe and you can *BET* I will definitely now! He usually never utters more than 'yeah it's ok'. THANK YOU!!!

Mad Dogs

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2003
Wow we thought these were just awesome. Sprinkled more cheese afterwards. We broiled the hotdogs the entire time - that helped the edges get crispy - we'll keep them in longer next time. Made an aluminum foil tray/box to catch all the drippings. Very very good though. Can't wait to make this for my brother!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2003
A good recipe, but overall a little sweet. Also, it began to separate after a while. Great if you're in the mood for a heavy sauce that has a lot of flavor. Thanks!

Reuben Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2003
Wow. Made this for dinner, for two, and it was SOOOOO good. Men will love this, and so will anyone who loves reubens. I ran out of swiss cheese and used cheddar for part of it, and that worked great too. Soo good the night of, but just ok the next day. We ate it with torn, toasted pieces of rye bread. We looked for rye crackers, but in the end we wanted something softer. Thanks!

Chocolate Brittle Surprise

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2002
These are delicious and beautiful. I may try using semi sweet chocolate, then drizzling the milk chocolate over it. I thought it was perfect with the semi sweet - the only thing was the pecans did not stay in place nicely. Thanks.

Strawberry Tiramisu for Two

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2002
Well this is the most amazing tiramisu recipe ever. I cannot BELIEVE not that many people have tried it. This will now be the dessert for every birthday/special occasion. It is not too sweet, and the whole recipe just tastes fantastic - the strawberries really lighten up the dish. FYI, 1/3 cup espresso is a little less than 2 shots at Starbucks - I like to apply it with a brush to the lady fingers. My brother is impatiently awaiting HIS birthday now....

Cheese Tortellini Caesar Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2002
While the tortellini stay kind of bland, a little pepper fixes that. This is a really delicious salad, that I will pass on at lunch tomorrow!!!!!

Four Layer Delight

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2002
I normally follow recipes fairly closely, but since I only had 15 minutes before people came over for a potluck, I followed the Pecan Sandies suggestion, and used 1/4 cup of white sugar (based on the not enough sugar comment) instead of the confectioner's sugar, and chocolate pudding. I placed these in short, clear cups, and they were beautiful. Lots of praise when they came out, and more after the first bite. THANKS!!!

Ground Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2002
Well this was easy enough that my boyfriend made this by himself while I was napping. We were suspicious about not needing enchilada sauce, but after trying it, it was completely unnecessary. This tasted almost as good as the 2 1/2 hour enchilada recipe I had made before. We also used sour cream and a four cheese mix, which worked out beautifully. THANK YOU!!!!

Texas Ranch Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2002
Definately an A1 meal for a busy tiring day. I would recommend cheddar cheese, however, it has more flavor than mozzarella. I used a combination and it worked out great. THANKS!!

Gyroll

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2002
This was delicious, but as others said, way too salty. I will use maybe 1/2 teaspoon salt next time. The flavor was amazing, and I used the 'Pizza Dough' recipe (the no rise one) found on this website, as well as the cucumber sauce from the Grilled Gyro Burger recipe. God, SO GOOD!!

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
Wow these are awesome - taste just like the chain Chili's southwestern eggrolls, which my brother loves. Made these and froze them before frying them (tripled the recipe), and going to give them to my brother for Xmas with a Fry Daddy Jr. Hope he likes it. Boiled the chicken for 20 minutes and shredded them instead; cooked the red pepper, then dumped in everything else and cooked for several minutes. Stuffed about 14 8" tortillas with the tripled recipe. Great stuff.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2014
2900+ reviews don't lie....this dip is delicious. I could eat it with a spoon....also good with Tostitos scoops. I'll follow Scott99's recommendation for the layering next time - the color is definitely unappetizing. I just boiled 2 chicken breasts in plain water for 20 minutes then shredded them.

Peruvian Style Beer Can Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2014
Made this without rosemary as we hate rosemary and this was DELICIOUS. Brined the chicken for about 2 hours but forgot to poke holes - poked holes and let it sit for another half hour. BTW, an olive-pic that you use for martinis works really well as a hole poker! Followed the instructions for the Drunk Chicken recipe on this site in terms of skewering to keep the can in - GENIUS! Didn't have time to let it sit in the rub very long and hope to have more time next time. We have a gas grill, and needed to light the left two burners (one was a searing burner and one was a regular burner), and then put the chicken to the right as much as we could. It was the only way we could get to 350 in our grill. I heard it was better than Super Pollo (the best in the DC metro area)...hopefully with a longer bath in the rub, I will agree next time, but it was really, really good. With this small of a chicken, I was able to bring this in a resealable bag, with as much air squished out as possible.

Curried Salmon Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2014
I needed a dressing for grilled salmon salad (on spinach and romaine with some quinoa cooked in chicken broth and curry powder; the salmon was grilled just with olive oil, salt and pepper). This dressing was GREAT! Took forever to find a small container of plain fatfree yogurt (finally found that Stonyfield makes one) - I was about to swap lite sour cream if I couldn't find it but I'm glad I did. Made the dressing exactly as is and let it sit for about 30-60 minutes. The husband loved it and at it as it, but I also felt like it was missing something - it needed a hint of sweetness. A couple of glugs of honey really made this perfect for me. This is our new favorite summer time dinner!
