New England Clam Chowder II

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
My family are big chowder hounds, but they did not like this one. It did not have the creaminess or thickness we were looking for, and the clam juice made it taste too fishy. Also, way too many potatoes. Seemed more like a potato chowder.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2014
These were a little labor intensive, but came out great. The sour cream/baking soda combination was new to me, but really made the end product light and delicious. I added about a tablespoon of lemon zest and 3/4 c of dried cranberries.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
Delicious! A little labor intensive with all the chip-chopping, but well worth it. Added frozen peas at the end for a little green and a bit of veggie.

Easy Peach Crisp II

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2013
I modified this at the suggestion of others. I used 10 baseball-sized fresh peaches for a 8 x 13, 2 c flour, 3/4 c white and 3/4 c brown sugar, 1 c slow-cook oats, 1T cinnamon, and 3/4 c butter. I didn't think the topping got very crispy; probably because of the decreased amount of butter. I'll add more next time and cut back on the flour. Otherwise, it was a hit! Took it to a party and everyone loved it.

Irish Lamb Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2012
This was a hit! I never would have imagined. It was a little labor-intensive (and expensive with lamb $7/lb), but worth it. I followed the recipe exactly, except I forgot the wine! I also added one parsnip. I didn't even miss the wine; in fact it might have made the gravy a little watery. Served it with Irish soda bread as suggested and the whole pot was devoured at the party where I brought it. I'll definitely keep the recipe, but due to the expense, I won't serve it too often.

Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2011
Yummy! I took the suggestions to double the sauce and they were right. Added some chopped scallions for extra color and flavor. Needed more salt than I added, but otherwise an easy, juicy, and delicious meal.

Excellent and super easy. It really does require constant stirring to make it set right without lumps. The taste was delicious and perfect with scones.

Apple Crisp II

Delicious and super easy to make. I used cortland apples which were perfect and still firm after cooking. 6-7 apples sliced up to > 10 cups.

Easy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2012
This was delicious and quick! ...with a couple adjustments. I had some fresh thyme so I chopped about 2 teaspoons and tossed it in with 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped garlic, and a few shakes of worcestershire sauce. It didn't need any additional salt or pepper.

Super easy and delicious. I've never made this before and the recipe is a keeper. I served this with Irish lamb stew and it was a perfect complement.
