One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2014
I went with the added advice of a full cup of cocoa and instant coffee to the boiling water. I've NEVER made such perfect - moist - delicious cake! I also did the 9x13 pan for 40 minutes. Even with the store bought frosting that I had on hand - the cake was memorable. My future son-in-law had 3 very large pieces!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2013
FREEZE THEM! The recipe makes a lot of cookies. There is no need to cut the recipe in half - just freeze them ALL after cooling. They are incredible eaten right out of the freezer. Also, I tried using chocolate (instant) pudding. I bet you can substitute any instant pudding flavor that YOU like and still come up with a winner. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2013
I used mild Italian sausage instead of sweet ---and had on hand a can of garlic and onion diced tomatoes. What a wonderful meal we had! This was easy to make. I didn't pay attention to the "serves 6"... and it certainly does! I look forward to the leftovers!

Fast and easy. I used the Prego sauce I had on hand. Will definitely add this to my rotation of chicken dishes! Thanks!

Lemon Blueberry Drop Scones

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
Everyone loves these! I used vanilla yogurt with one tbsp of honey. Put grated lemon in batter, but not in glaze, & used fresh blueberries. Very moist, almost melt in your mouth!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
I used the 1/2 whole wheat 1/2 reg flour... the buttermilk powder and butter instead of shortening. I also used the food processor - and when I turned the dough onto the counter - I only pressed it into a thickness to use my cutter. BEST EVER - such flavor...! Thanks to everyone who leaves suggestions!!

Best Whole Wheat Chocolate Chippers

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
I followed the recipe (several times now!) For Christmas, I used half choc chips and half colorful M&M's to make them festive. Best tip: FREEZE THEM! I freeze them all (in quart zip bags) and eat them right from there. Set 2 cookies out while you make a cup of hot tea and they are ready to nibble on right away! Thanks for sharing the recipe!!

Garlic-Buttered Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
Excellent! I made the dish yesterday. My husband hates onions - so I used onion powder, and I used fresh garlic in with the sauteed mushrooms. I had fresh Parmesan cheese on hand. It really does add the final BLUE RIBBON touch!

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
Wow... I am usually not a brave person to try new recipes. Glad I did this one. Followed it almost exactly. (I rinsed the quinoa - sort of....soaked them - need to find a tiny mesh container to rinse them next time! The little boogers went everywhere!) The flavors were incredible! Easy enough even for beginners. YUM

Ugly Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
I didn't think it was UGLY at all! (Actually relieved that it wasn't!) And very tasty. I took it to a gathering and everyone snarfed it down. This is a good time to use the PRETTY and FANCY dishes to set the bland looking dip apart!
