Pecan Tassies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
We REALLY enjoyed these. We made two batches. One batch as written and for the second batch, my husband added 3 dark chocolate chips to each tassie before adding the batter and pecan. Both batches were delicious. Also, we used a ½ teaspoon of chopped pecans and ½ tablespoon of batter for each tassie. Using these measures made the assembly process faster. To form the little shells: We just put a plastic sandwich bag over the top of an unopened bottle of marinade. Just invert the bottle and press it into the dough ball. This forms a decent shell rather quickly.

I'm hooked on this. I've eaten it every day since I found the recipe a few weeks ago. It's really good!

Spoon Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
I have been making these for about 10 years. They are great. I often use this substitution for the self-rising flour: 4 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons salt and 2 Tablespoons baking powder.

Sunday Best Fruit Salad

Reviewed: May 15, 2005
Not the best. The pie filling was the problem. It made it seem like a recipe from the 80's or a cafeteria style salad. I suggest just eating the fruit without the pie filling.

I was surprised by how yummy this is! I omitted the cheese and increased the brown rice to 1.5 cups cooked. Our 13 month-old loved it!

I put the oats in the blender like others suggested. I also used two wholes eggs instead of the whites called for in the recipe.

Peanut Butter Choco Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2011
So good! I added a splash vanilla and used both brown and white sugars. Also, I used half dark choc chips and half semi-sweet. Next time, I'll just use the semi-sweet chips.

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
Super yummy! I followed the recipe as written. If you don't want to throw out the egg whites, may I suggest these yummy recipes (from allrecipes.com) that call for egg whites: 1) Quick and Easy Peanut Butter Oatmeal and 2) Forgotten Cookies II. Both are yummy and used ingredients that you probably already have on hand!

I followed the recipe as written except I used 2 eggs instead of 1/2 cup egg substitute. So good! Many asked for the recipe.

Cinnamon Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
This recipes yields a very good Belgian waffle...however even with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, it was not at all "cinnamon-y" in its flavor. I will try again and use more cinnamon.

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
From reading the other reviews and the recipe itself, I imagined a nice beefy dish with complementary kick. I followed the recipe exactly but did not get the results I expected. The spices/sauce in this recipe masked the flavor of the beef. I will not make this again. If you are interested in trying this recipe, check out the other review’s suggestions. Perhaps their ideas will render a better dish.

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2002
So good. I did not like the bacon in the soup; the bacon's texture changed during the second cooking. Next time, I will wait to add the bacon until the end, as a garnish. So good. This is the best potato soup I've had...including my favorite version at a restaurant. Thank you for sharing with us Karena.
