Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2014
Being a Georgia girl transplanted to Northern Ontario, I have been in a 10 year search for good breakfast sausage like I could get back home. I will search no more! I left out the sugar and cloves, because I don`t like sweet sausage and this was perfect without it!

Slow Cooker Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2013
These beans are cooking now, and my house smells amazing! I will admit, I snitched a taste (you have to try something before serving to guests, right?) and they are very tasty! I can't wait to have a serving with our ribs for our Canada Day celebration! These beans are easy to put together, and I followed the recipe as written. I will add a bit of salt toward the end of the cooking time, and that is the only change I will make!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
These are amazing! I did not use cookie cutters, just rolled the cookies into small balls and flattened them with the palm of my hand. I did take the advice of others and increased the amount of ginger and cinnamon and they were a hit! Thenext time I make these, I will try using sugar free pudding mix, Splenda brown sugar, and whole wheat flour!

These are fabulous, although a little labor intensive. They were gone in minutes!

Balsamic Baked Tilapia

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
This is a really good dish...as my husband said, "worthy of any fancy restaurant". I didn't have blue cheese and just used cheddar, and it was amazing. Can only imagine how much better it will be with blue!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
I cut this recipe out of the Atlanta Journal & Constitution newspaper years ago. It was from Chef Paul Prudhomme (not sure if I spelled it correctly) and my family loves it! This is a great recipe - no need to change a thing!

Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
This was a good pork roast. The first time I cooked it, I served to company and got rave reviews! I only gave 4 stars because I was not that fussy about it myself...just good, not fabulous!

Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
This is a great recipe and makes mashed potatoes a quick side if made ahead. For extra flavor, add roasted garlic!

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
I am 58 years old, from Georgia, and have been eating a version of this recipe all my life. I gave it only 3 stars because it is bland without cinnamon and nutmeg added. Add tsp of each, and you will have a 5 star recipe!

Pork Chops a la Slow Cooker

I had forgotten about this recipe till I ran across it today! I used this recipe 30 years ago and loved it then. I will use this again in the very near future. Great recipe for one of those busy days!

Buttermilk Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
Very easy and tastes great! I did not tell anyone that it had buttermilk until it was gone...which did not take very long! Everyone loved it. One substitution....my grocery store did not have either apricot or peach jello, so I used orange!

I give this recipe 5 stars with adding extra cajun seasoning. It gives the roast a wonderful crust! This has become our favorite!

Easy Sausage Strata

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
This is a very easy, yet satisfying breakfast or brunch dish. It is very simple to change it up by using stuffing mix instead of bread crumbs and adding additional items such as asparagus, peppers, onions, garlic, or whatever you like. I have used this basic recipe for years and changed it up many different ways...always getting rave reviews.

Armadillo Eggs

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2003
This is a very time consuming and tedious recipe, but as with many other things in life, the finished product is worth the wait! I have made these several times exactly as the recipe states. Next time, I may follow another viewers advice and cut the peppers in half. That should cut down on the pepper prep time. These armadillo eggs are a family favorite.

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

This is very simple - even for the beginners! Wrap in aluminum foil and freeze for up to 3 months. What a handy, impressive dessert to have on hand when surprise guests drop in! Just take out of freezer 15 minutes before serving.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2002
Moving from the deep South (US) to Canada, I truly miss my Tex-Mex food. This is a great recipe and I use it often! If I do not have fresh tomatoes, I use a chunky salsa and it really works well!
