About this Cook
Married to my high school sweetheart and have 3 children, 1 grandchild and a foster son. Cooking is how I relax. I love to cook for family and friends and am always trying new things. I also love to eat and figured out a long time ago that it is possible to make amazing food (as good or better than restaurant food) in my own kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake artisan bread (as well as other types) and am always trying to make a better loaf. I pretty much love to cook most anything that tastes good but some of my favorites are: Pork Medallions; Sushi of various types; Green Chili; Chiles Rellenos; Enchiladas; Meatballs; Chicken Noodle soup; French Onion soup; Summer Squash soup; Marinated Beef Roast; Grilled New York Strip Steak; and Roasted Chicken.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and grandmother were both wonderful cooks. Good old fashioned "from scratch" home cooking. I developed an appreciation for using fresh ingredients and staying away from the box mix/prepackaged craze. My grandma's chicken and dumplings hold a special place in my heart!
My cooking triumphs
Good looking (and tasting!) Sushi rolls. Rave reviews for my artisan french bread - even from my very picky kids :)
My cooking tragedies
There a more than I would like to admit, but it is the best way to learn! They usually had to do with either not paying attention to the recipe or mistaking tsp for TBS... And, of course, baking soda instead of baking powder a couple of times.

The Best Chicken Fried Steak
Awesome - too bad it is not 'healthier' so I can have it more often!

Spicy Tuna Sushi Roll
Is only marginally OK. Canned tuna is just not the way to go for a tuna sushi roll. The rice is also not done in the traditional matter. The sauce for the rice should be made separately and not done when cooking the rice.
