Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
In a nutshell, what other rates have advised: cook the rice well before adding the sugar. Mix the half cup of milk with the egg before adding and do it slowly and stirring constantly. Sprinkle some cinnamon and or nutmeg after cooking. I would also add: if you're not going to serve immediately, add more water and more milk in the first two stages or you'll end up with a very dry rice mixture just one hour after taking it from the heat.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
I used half white sugar and half brown only because I ran out of white and the brownies were delicious! I also used less than half the amount of confectioner's sugar for the frosting and I heated it before spreading over the still warm brownies. As per another reviewers advice, I let cool and then cut with a plastic knife. perfect cuts!

Chilean Potato Pie (Pastel de Papas)

Reviewed: May 19, 2010
I gave it 4 start only because the amount of mashed potatoes is half what it should be. In a sheperd's pie you only need potatoes for the top, but in a pastel de papas you need it for top and bottom, and this was barely enough for a top. A WORD OF WARNING: if you're cooking less than 8 servings, check the amounts you're given! From the 2 tbsp of cheese in the 8-serving recipe, I ended up with 5 CUPS!! for a 4-serving recipe! In Uruguay, neighbour to Argentina and Chile, our pastel de papa doesn't take cheese, but I enjoyd the taste of cheese in this. We skip the eggs too and the result is a more solid mash potatoes, but just as good.

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: May 12, 2010
It is a good base, but for flavour, one needs to add more things, so I can't give it more than 3 stars. It is a 5 in how easy it is to make

French Beef Stew

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
I added some onion and red pepper and the stew was so flavorful that I didn't need to add the mustard. I found the serving sizes were small for a regular family. I cooked for 3 but ended up with 2 small serving sizes. Either double the amount or serve a side dish with this!

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
this was my first pumpkin pie ever- even the first time I tasted one, and it was great! Where I live we don't have evaporated milk so I used light cream. I used Pie Crust IV and Pumpkin Pie Spice II, both from this site

Lemon Dijon Wings

Reviewed: May 7, 2010
I am not a fan of marinades so I simply spread the mixture on the wings and put it all in the oven. I made sure to turn them often so they were coated evenly at all times. I also used lime instead of lemon, and used much more juice. next time I'll add more salt too

Honey-Poached Quince Pie

Reviewed: May 6, 2010
I did the recipe just as instructed but found it was too sweet for my taste so next time I'll cut the sugar by half. I'd like to try brown sugar instead of white too. The amount of liquid was fine, but if reducing the sugar it would be best to add a bit more water when the quince are cooking. Great pie! we all loved it!

Grilled Chicken Burgers

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
following some other people's advice, I cut on the amount of carrot by half, and added less of the other veggies. I added some salt and a bit of Dijon. Great recipe! I also put it in the oven to bake for some minutes. When I flipped sides, I also put the buns cut in half to toast lightly.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
5 stars because it is the simplest thing to feed your family when short of time. It tastes great too. I just used a few spoonfuls of ketchup as my daughter doesn't like it and the results were good nonetheless

Potato Chips

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
this is fine for a quick snack for ONE. It takes ages if you think of it as a side dish. I'll keep making my potato chips in the oven! And use plenty of Pam under and over the chips. In my microwave it took almost 15 min for a single batch

I didn't have instant rice so I used the regular kind which takes about 8 to 10 min and I needed to use more water. Instead of chicken broth I used vegetables powdered soup and it worked great.

Easy Lasagna II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
I loved the recipe. As for other reviews, I used 1/4 less cheese and it was a bit to cheesy anyway. Didn't use any salt and it was fine. I found the spaghetti sauce was too much too. NExt time I'll add more water and less sauce.
