Egg Drop Soup (Better than Restaurant Quality!)

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
Great, easy, try less starch(half) for a thinner soup.

Rum or Bourbon Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
Just Okay. Maybe I did something wrong. I tasted one after 3 days and it was dry, and not nearly boozy enough. Office ate them all anyway.

Fig and Olive Tapenade

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2011
Man, that's good. I used ground thyme and fresh rosemary, 'cause that's what I had. Otherwise, followed the recipe to a t. I tried it with cream cheese, goat cheese is next.

Low Carb Cauliflower Leek Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
I was looking for a low cal, low carb soup. After cooking, I split the soup into portions so I could blend it in my blender. After half of the soup was blended, I tried it. It turned out pretty yucky and bland (I did not want to add the heavy cream). But I didn't want waste the giant pot of soup and all of my effort, so I added half a can of coconut milk and some green curry spice and a bit of yogurt to make a curry-like soup. To the soup I hadn't blended, I added tomatoes, artichokes and 2 Tbs of pesto and ended up with an Italian veggie soup. This recipe might be a base for a healthy soup, but "doctoring up" is needed.

Cookie Pops

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
They came out great. We decorated with tubes of icing, sprinkles etc. We used craft sticks and only had one cookie separate during removal from pan. The taste is nothing fabulous, but the result is cute.

Pumpkin Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Ha ha ha, I'm sure I did something wrong. I tried to make layered cupcakes, like one of the photos show. They fell apart completely, but it was so good, we had to serve them anyway. We mushed them into balls, and made Pumpkin Brownie truffles, rolled in cocoa and powdered sugar. I'll try it again, definitely.

Yummy Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
Delicious and the family loved it. So sorry if you are one of those people who want the recipe followed exactly, bc I try to improve the nutrition of most carb based recipes. My family and I have to eat it after all. I halved the sugar in each step. I used half whole wheat flour and it was still fluffy. I only had an 8x8 pan, so that's what I used. It took the same amount of time that the larger pan would have.

Simple Artichoke Dip

Everyone loved it, but I didn't care for the mayonaise taste. There was none left.

Chicken Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
Turned out great. I made this for thanksgiving and all agreed it was a keeper. I used Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread recipe from this site. It was a little too sweet, next time I'll reduce the sugar. the recipe says 6 servings but fills a 9 x 14 pan. Changing the serving size to 8 is perfect for a 10 x 15 pan.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
Really, really good. A little too sweet for me, that's the only change I'd make is to reduce the amount of sugar. I used this to make dressing, but I couldn't keep my daughter from eating it. So good.

Bacon Wrapped Dates Stuffed with Blue Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
Very easy, simple ingredients, and yummy, yummy, yummy!!! I used the black label bacon and cut each slice in half. Feta or Manchega cheese would be good if you don't like blue. I ate them cold out of the fridge the next day- even better!!!! I didn't use any other ingredients like vinegar or sugar; it was perfect just like this! The only caveat: Make sure you have plenty people to eat them, or otherwise you WILL eat them all by yourself.

Easy, delicious. Have served with cream cheese icing and also I have tried with chocolate cake mix. I save my too-brown bananas in the freezer for this purpose.

Chorizo with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Cider

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
Tried it for a dinner party, but it was not a big hit at all. I liked it but the taste was very strong. Also it was hard to serve at the party, maybe I over cooked it slightly.

Petty good, well liked, but basic. Would add cayenne or hot sauce next time, or nutmeg.

Margarita Balls I

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
Really not worth the effort and ingredients. It was sweet, but none of the flavor came through. I tried doubling the marmalade and the booze...but nothing. I was afraid to add more because they would be too mushy. Also added some lime juice and salt as a last desperate measure.

Fortune Cookies III

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2005
These are not easy. I always say I'm not going to do it again, but I do. I can't figure out how to thread the fortune through after it's cool, so I add them before I fold. The cookie batter gets stuck on the fortune, but I hope people will get over it. Of course the charm is in the fortune itself. I've used the Monday's Child poem and baby quotes for baby showers, and Spanish quotes with the translation on the back for a bilingual friend's BDay.

Chocolate Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2005
This recipe is a little more like pudding and less like chocolate sauce. So when it began cooling, I stirred in 1/4 cup chocolate chips and 1 tbsp of corn syrup. Brought it to a party and served it with canteloupe, strawberries and oranges. Everybody loved it!
