Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
This was just your delicious typical sugar cookie. I made a big change to this recipe, though. I didn't add ANY shortening, and I decreased the butter to around 1 1/2 sticks. The other measurements were kept the exact same and OMG this cookie was DELISH! I felt much better eating it knowing how much fat I decreased from it and the flavor did not LACK. I baked it for 11-12 minutes. Crunchy outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Will DEFINITELY be making these cookies again!

Nanna's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
I was looking forward to a great tasting banana bread.. I used about three or four small, but very very ripe bananas, and mashed them with a fork. The end result wasn't how I expected it to be. I actually thought it wasn't sweet enough. Suprisingly, my 6 year old picky brother actually liked it. Everyone else hated it. I felt sad because I hate to give low reviews. Nonetheless, I will find a way to tweak this!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
OMG!! These were a trip to heaven!!! I was a little doubtful at first, because, there were so many chocolate chip cookie recipes that looked just as good!!! But I'm glad I gave these a try. They're awesome!! Taste as good as the ones I get from my local bakery!!! For the first batch, I didn't refrigerate the dough.. and they came out perfect! The second batch was chilled overnight.. but they came out perfect just as the first batch. It wasn't cakey or flat. These taste best when eaten fresh-- when the chocolate chips are still warm and gooey =)

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
These tasted good. I used yellow cake mix. And while I was mixing the ingredients, I noticed it was very, very, oily. And although when it bakes, and we don't really see or taste the oil, it's still there. But that shouldn't be a problem for those who don't care about calories. =) (trust, I didn't care either, though I felt guilty =) Tasted just like the cookies you get at those cookie places in the malls. But I prefer homemade cookies. But these were very addicting.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
SO GOOD! OMG, this tasted just like Cracker Jack's - even better! I decreased the servings amount to 15 since that's all the popcorn I had, and since I didn't have corn syrup, I substituted maple syrup. Tasted real good, and at first I thought the caramel was too less.. but once I put it in the oven.. it became easier to mix! I do have to agree, the mixing part IS kind of a pain, but it's all worth it! My teacher said: "This is really good!" My classmates couldn't stay away from it!

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
I always forget to rate these! These were really good and quick. And lucky for me I had some cream cheese in the fridge and I made the cream cheese icing and frosted them. But oh my God! I made a mistake! I accidentally MELTED the butter (I used butter instead of margarine) instead of just letting it get softened. When I took out the butter from the microwave, my sister was telling me that it's usually not melted (the butter), and after they were baked, I looked at the recipe again and she was right! No wonder why it was so messy to cut! (I did use thread though) I also put them in a 9x13 in. glass pan.. just put them together.. not far apart. Butter melted or not, the result was amazing. Definitely wish I could make them again if I wasn't lazy!

Shrimp Scampi V

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
Ah, this was so good. I used frozen cooked (peeled and deveined) shrimp. I felt like gobbling it all up when I was sauteing it in the butter sauce... it smelled so GOOD! I didn't add any wine, I upped the garlic, and I used parsley flakes (dried parsley) since that was all I had. And I dumped that in the sauce, too. Very pretty presentation and the shrimp scampi didn't last very long! Also, don't forget the Parmesan! Doesn't taste the same without it. I like adding some extra Parmesan and parsley on top of my pasta.

Hot Pink Lemonade

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
Good.. but too lemony.. I lessened the sugar like how others said to.. but kept the lemon juice at the same amount! Big mistake!! It leaves a puckering taste in your mouth. But was still good. I added the blueberries to the simple syrup mixture and added the lemon juice to it.. it got a hot pink color, but I didn't taste the blueberries (am I supposed to?). I even added some extra (whole) bluberries and stirred it in! Still not blueberry tast.. I added the strained blueberries..a little taste.. but it wasn't enough! Next time, I think I will let the blueberries just sit in the simple syrup and put it in the fridge so it will absorb all the flavor.

Blueberry Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
This deserves 10 stars!!! I kept on eating this till my stomach hurt!! That's how good it is!! If you love blueberries, you will love this! I did take the suggestion from some other reviewers who said to up the milk to almost 3/4 a cup.. I used a little more than 3/4. Also, I used walnuts in place of pecans since I didn't have any pecans. Still tasted good! It's important to use fresh blueberries since they won't bleed like frozen ones. And remember to FOLD in the blueberries, you don't want the blueberries to bleed in the cake batter before they even get baked!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
This was fantastic! Tasted soo good! What I did differently was used chicken breasts, and cut them into cubes. That's how I usually eat teriyaki chicken at restaraunts. The chicken baked at 30 minutes (maybe cause I was using cubed pieces of chicken?). One reviewer said that her sauce didn't thicken.. mine thickened like honey! You should turn the heat up a little bit when cooking the sauce.. after it boils, set it aside to cool down a bit. It won't thicken while it's on the stove.. it needs to cool down. If you used the cornstarch, then it should thicken, no doubt! Luckily I had some extra sauce which I poured on the chicken after I took it out. If you don't have extra sauce, cook up some more! The chicken is not the same without the extra teriyake merinade! Remember to NOT use the leftover water/juice from when the chicken was baking! It can really make you sick!

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
THIS WAS AWESOME! Sooo yummy! It just needs more - pizza looks. =) Add all your favorite pizza toppings in the casserole (olives, banana peppers, other veggies, raw onions?). OH AND, it looks JUST like a pizza casserole when you put the mozzarella cheese on top and then top it with more toppings (or only pepperoni, if you like) and gosh, that's one darn good pizza.. I mean, casserole. ;) P.S. for all you cheese lovers like me, pour half of the casserole in the dish.. top with LOTS of cheese, then put the remaining pasta, and MORE CHEESE!!!

Penne with Chicken and Pesto

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
This is FABULOUS!! I don't usually cook entree recipes (more of a dessert person). But I was craving my favorite chicken penne that I eat at Romano's Macaroni Grill. There were other similar recipes to the chicken penne at macaroni grill.. but I decided to go with something easier. And wow, I was surprised at myself! My penne, although, soaked up all the sauce.. I used half & half and added a 3/4 teaspon cream of tartar. I was going to go with the chicken broth. But I remembered last minute, and it was frozen. Will definitely try this again.. and maybe tweak it a little for a creamier texture. Oh, and instead of using parmesan cheese, I used FRESH mozzarella that I grated on the spot. MMMM!! It just melted through the hot pasta (I added it on top too).

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: May 18, 2010
I really don't understand why some reviews said that the sugar wasn't enough. It was too much if you ask me. I measured it in my head, and decided to go with 1 cup of sugar for 1 cup of water (for the boiling part). 1 3/4 cups of sugar is too sweet. At first, I thought it would be less for 7 cups of water, but it was perfect! It was actually sweeter than I thought! I drink my lemonade a little bit less sweeter, but the sugar was perfect (reduced from 1 3/4 to 1 cup). I also didn't use lemon juice straight from lemons. First, I didn't have any. Second, it would be more time consuming if I tried to juice 1 1/2 cups worth of lemons! I used organic lemon juice, straight from the bottle, and it tasted just as great! Overall this lemonade was wonderful. Next time, for my own preference, and since I like my lemonade to be "diet", I will add 1/2 cup of sugar. And I'm pretty sure it will still be sweet.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
AMAZING!!!! Although I didn't have a beautiful bundt pan =( I still managed to have the same yummylicious taste that everyone else experienced.. I used a 9x13 baking pan, and it came out great! I used a homemade biscuit dough recipe because all the recipes I checked all had storebought packaged biscuit dough! Not very authentic, if you ask me. Anyway, the baking soda in the biscuit dough really helped the monkey bread. Each individual piece of the biscuit dough expanded and stuck to each other (just the way you want it). =)

Custard Pie III

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
Did I do something wrong? The result of this pie was literally scrambled eggs.. I followed exactly as the recipe said.. but I don't get it. This usually doesn't happen.. has anyone else gotten the same results? I really wanted to make this and enjoy it.. so I want to try it again.. maybe a little less eggs?

Easy Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
THIS WAS AMAZING!!!! I was so surprised that you only need a few ingredients. BUT IT TURNED OUT SO GREAT!! I replaced vanilla extract with vanilla imitation, cause 2 tbsp of vanilla extract may be too strong. It came out great! Tasted just like the Breyers brand ice cream. I don't have an ice cream maker, but, what I did was first put the mixture in the fridge for half an hour, then I put it in the freezer and took out every half an hour. I scraped the edges and mixed it. I repeated this every half hour till it got its good frozen texture. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS RECIPE!

Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
this tasted amazing!!! since i was only making one serving, i made the following changes: 1 banana 1/3 cup of milk 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder 3 ice cubes well, i guess i made a change in everything! lol, well the milk seemed too much, and i like my smoothies with a nice, rich, consistency.. so i only used 1/3 of a cup. also, i prefer cocoa powder over chocolate syrup.. it's more natural and you don't need too much. (note: chocolate syrup has a lot of sugar!!)

Sugar Cream Pie V

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
i love sugar cream pies.. but apparently this pie didn't have the "creamy" look. it tasted good, but i didn't like the texture... i was hoping for a creamy, milky look... but i guess it just wasn't there. it looked more like "milk gelatin" and "clear"
