About this Cook
I have found since quitting my full time job in January that I love to cook! I spend hours each week planning, shopping cooking and baking for family and friends. I have a small catering business with a friend. We do event and party planning and love it!
My favorite things to cook
love to bake, pies have become a favorite, although I love to make breads as well, both quick and yeast. I enjoy maing anything in large quantities for parties and events. I also love expiermenting with different sauces and marinades for veggies and meats. We use only organic pork, poultry and beef, and enjoy raising our own steers. Have a full garden this year... first time in a decade and love it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother did not do the cooking at home much, but when she did it was true to her southern roots and wee all loved it. Here where I live now, country cooking and the small church socials etc., seem to hold the most meaning for me and I love to be the one to show up with something a little bit different, a little bit "more" than expected.

Hash Brown Casserole II
Adjusted to serve 110 for a funeral dinner and it was perfect! everyone loves this and other than adjusting the cook time to allow for the depth of the roasters and cutting back on the butter and salt it was just right. love it when I find a recipe that I can adjust for a large crowd!

Mexican Corn on the Cob (Elote)
Made this tonight for the first time... the family loved it! picky eaters (girls, ages 9 and 13) ate 2 each! Used skwebsters suggestions and it was awesome! Plan to make it this Saturday for 100 people at a Surprise Party for a friend, should go well with the Carnitas, and other Mexican fare! Thanks for a great recipe!
