I just used this recipe to frost applesauce spice cupcakes and this frosting is the best I've ever made! My mom had me add a small pinch of salt to the mixture. I used only butter, no shortening, and added 3 cups of sugar, not 4 (thanks to all of the reviews I read here today). I added 1.5 tsp of vanilla extract and ended up needing 2 tablespoons of milk to make the frosting the perfect consistency for my little plastic gizmo from the dollar store that allowed me to pipe out stars of frosting all over the tops of the cupcakes. I put a Craisin in the center dollop of frosting (I uploaded a photo today, too) and my cupcakes look bakeshop ready if I do say so myself, ha ha. My dinner guests this evening are in for quite a treat! I will definitely use this frosting in the future. It's spectacular!
