California Roll Salad

As is, with no changes to the recipe, I thought this was just ok (I noticed a lot of other reviews gave it a higher rating, but with changes). Too much vinegar for my taste, especially after it had marinated in the fridge overnight. I ate some of the leftovers the next day and the acid was intense. I'd add more rice if I were to make it again, maybe more sugar/mayo. Definitely didn't fix my sushi craving.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

I like this recipe because it's easily tweaked according to personal preference. I've made it a few times now, dredged with floor and not. I double the sauce, skip the extra salt, add more honey instead of the brown sugar, and sauté some onions in. I serve it with rice and salad, sometimes as lettuce wraps. Always good!

Portobello Mushroom Stroganoff

I am addicted to this recipe. Not being a beef fan the Portobello mushrooms are a great replacement. I love the sauce but you definitely have to like sour cream. I make the recipe exactly as is.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

As a huge pumpkin fan I loved the flavour of these cookies, although next time I would cut down slightly on the cloves. Texture wise they were way better straight out of the oven. Even without sealing them they became moist and chewy within 24 hours. I went without the icing and they were sweet enough for me as dessert and great with coffee.

Bread Pudding II

Made this recipe just yesterday and am eating leftovers for breakfast today! First time making bread pudding and it was great, although I did tweak it a bit so that's why I only gave it 4 stars. I followed other reviews and used only 3 eggs as I really don't like eggy desserts, used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/4 brown, used 8 slices of whole wheat bread (cut off most of the crust), 1% milk, and added a pinch of nutmeg and left out raisins as I didn't have any. Turned out delicious, like a pan full of cinnamon buns. It is sweet, but that works for me. Definitely will make again, with these adjustments - which are just personal preferences really.

Simple White Cake

Made this recipe exactly as directed and it turned out pretty good. A little dense, but hearty and sweet enough that I ate it plain with coffee. After a day, though, the top lost some of its texture. It went a little spongy and sticky. But it was super easy to make and I would definitely make it again.

Ratatouille

A really good low cal veggie dish, although I found it a bit lacking in flavour (added extra garlic, onions and a few red pepper flakes to give it a bit more kick). The mix of veggies gives it some visual and taste interest. Served it as a main dish with bread.

Shrimp Fra Diavolo

Decent recipe, although I followed the suggestions and sauteed the garlic with the shrimp. It certainly gave it a lot more flavour. I wasn't a huge fan of how chewy the shrimp was, but I think that had more to do with the ones I bought and not the recipe itself. I also put in more red pepper flakes to give it more of a kick.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Loved this recipe! I followed the recipe exactly - but since my chicken was still partly frozen I cooked it for 8 hours on low. Turned out fantastic! An easy, delicious meal that I will make again soon, possibly with some veggies tossed in.

Baked Custard

The flavour of this recipe was pretty good (I followed some suggestions and made it with part brown and part white sugar). But I really disliked the texture. It was rubbery and more gelatin like that I would have preferred. I'm not sure that I'll try and make it again, but if I do it will be with less egg.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

This was a very good coffee cake. I really liked the texture and the tang that the cour cream gave it. However, I did find it a little too sweet, and would cut out some of the brown sugar and butter next time I make it.

Spinach Brownies

I love this recipe but didnt give it five stars because I found that some alterations were needed. I followed the instructions of other reviewers and only used 1/4 cup butter and sauted the onions (along with the spinach instead of boiling it separately). I also used 1% milk, hald whole wheat flour and half white, light mozza and unsalted butter to make it even healthier. It turned out delicious!

Stuffed Mushrooms

I made this recipe for a family dinner one night and everyone loved it - although they could only eat a few at a time because of the rich flavour. I did edit some, though. I left out the chives and cut the vinegar in half because I dont care for the taste. A great, healthy alternative to restaurant options.
