About this Cook
I love to cook and bake! My dream would be to one day combine my two loves of books and food and own my own coffee shop/book store of the non-Barnes and Knoble variety... something intimate, personal and fun
My favorite things to cook
Cookies/Cakes, Italian and Mexican
My favorite family cooking traditions
Just being together in the kitchen and I love to sit down to a homemade dinner and just talk about our days... food helps bring people together.
My cooking triumphs
A homemade Chocolate bundt cake with a center that was filled with beautifully decorated chocolate covered strawberries. It wasn't really all that difficult but it looked very impressive... which as any cook knows is the true definition of culinary success. That and my lasagna... I make a wicked Lasagna.
My cooking tragedies
I am very impatient which is without a doubt my biggest flaw in the kitchen... I tried to ice a cake before it was ready which obviously had a horrible out come, made even worse by the fact I was supposed to take it to a family get together!!!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken
Did this with 4 chicken breasts at 350 degrees 20 min. covered, 20 min. uncovered and it turned out great!. As a side dish I combined 2 cups brown rice, 2 fried eggs, 1 cup peas, 1 cup broccoli slaw, 1 tsp. siracha and the sauce from my pan of chicken after it got done baking (talk about bang for your your buck!) My hubby couldn't stop raving about it!!!! Awesome

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way
Made this for my first Thanksgiving dinner and everyone loved it!!!!! My fiancee said that it was the best turkey he has ever had and everyone commented on how every bite was juicy. I used the best brine recipe from AR and brined the turkey overnight but other then that followed these directions exactly! Impressive and easy, a must for the holidays and any other time you need to impress guests w/out too much effort.
