Curried Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
I had high hopes for this as I love curried couscous salads. However, I was very disappointed. The problem was the dressing. It tasted very odd and very oily. Could have reduced the oil, but the flavour itself would still remain unappealing. I have never had a curry dressing that tasted like this. The rest of the ingredients together are great but the dressing was a definate no-go for me.

A Simply Perfect Roast Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2006
I am usually really pathetic at roasts of any kind - I had actually given up. However, for the first time my husband and kids and I had Christmas at home without other relatives (who usually do the cooking). We had to have turkey! Well - my goodness - this was truly the perfect turkey - and looked like something you see in a cooking magazine. It was a beautiful thing! ;-) If I can have such success - anyone can! Really!!

No Beans About It - Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
I was so sure this would be great with all the rave reviews. I have to say I don't think I will be eating mine. As others have said, it is the consistancy of spaghetti sauce, has no heat (and I don't like chili too spicy--easily remedied though), and waaaaayyyyyy too much vinegar. I would reduce it to a couple tablespoons.

Winter Energy Cookies

Great cookies. I followed the recipe exactly. In my oven, 325 degrees for 15 minutes is perfect. Thanks Thea!

Indonesian Satay

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2003
This is a fabulous dish! We don't have a grill so just did the satays in the oven. Still great. Our kids didn't like them, but they are very picky eaters so that was no surprise. Will be making these often! Thank-you Estherlita!

Betsy's Mandarin Orange Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
Yup. This is a great salad. I thought 1/4 cup sugar sounded like way too much so I reduced it to 1 heaping tablespoon. Glad I did. Only other changes I made was to use light olive oil and romaine lettuce. My company loved it. Oh... one other thing I would do next time is to use a little less red onion. It's a keeper!

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
I added a spoonful of frozen orange juice, a bit of vanilla, a pinch of cinnamon and used equal amounts of marshmallow creme and cream cheese. Not a wow for me, but good enough that I would make it again.

Warm Greek Pita Sandwiches With Turkey and Cucumber-Yogurt Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
This is fantastic! Frying the turkey up with onion, oregano and garlic is a great change from the usual bland turkey used in sandwiches. The cucumber sauce is really what sets it apart though - it is REALLY good. The recipe for the sauce alone is a keeper! This will always be a follow up for the day after turkey dinner. The nice thing about this is that you don't feel like you are eating turkey "again".

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
I never even liked scones until I tried these ones! Because of all the great reviews, I thought I would try them anyway. My gosh - these are great! Even with nothing extra added and just eatin' plain!

Grandma's Gingersnap Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
These are the best ginger cookies I have ever had. (Only modification I made was to add 1 teaspoon cloves) Have been searching for the perfect mix of flavour and texture and this is it. Amazing, and even my picky 15 year old daughter LOVED them.

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
This was fantastic with one change--I halved the Rosemary and Thyme. Perfect and a great way to get more vegetables in my diet! (still fine with full amount of spices but just not my preference)

The Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
This was OK. Maybe I was too hyped up after all the rave reviews. I think it is a good base recipe that could be tweeked to make if more flavorful. I found it a bit bland (didn't use the pepperoncini & olives--that might have made a difference).

I love this! Great for breakfast, snack or anytime! Yes, you definately should make sure you use the sunflower seeds. Makes for a great texture. They freeze well too.

Banana Oat Muffins

I have been trying many banana muffin recipes over the last few years trying to find one that I really like. This is, hands down, the best recipe I have come across. I love them! YUM! YUM! YUM! Thanks Kimberly!

Hasty Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
The flavour is nice, but it's way too sweet for me. Perhaps it would be alright with half that amount of sugar. Even my sugar babies (kids) only ate a small amount as it was too sweet even for them.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2004
I have been on the search for the "best" chocolate chip cookie, like the ones my mom used to make when I was a kid. Although this is not "it", these are good and I have made them a few times, which says a lot as I am rather picky. Slightly crispy on the outside, somewhat soft on the inside, but not chewy (don't like chewy cookies). Don't know if I will make these a third time, but definately a good, reliable, and fool-proof recipe.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2001
After reading all the great reviews on this recipe, I was quite disappointed. It wasn't real bad but it wasn't great either. My husband and I ate one serving. The kids wouldn't eat it, and I am not sure if the left overs will be eaten or not. I am very fond of mexican food but just care for this one much.
