About this Cook
Now that I'm an "empty nester" I enjoy cooking projects that are challenging. My husband and I love spicy food. I also cook for an elderly relative, but he's game to try new things, and eats like a horse!
My favorite things to cook
soups and stews. ethnic dishes of all kinds.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always have a dish called "Charlotte Rousse" for Christmas. It's a formed custard in ladyfingers with lots of whipped cream in it and on top. Also, Jewish foods are a family tradition, like Knishes and hamentashen and traditional passover foods. Yes, we are an eclectic lot!
My cooking triumphs
Anything that is eaten and enjoyed!
My cooking tragedies
Dishes that become leftovers!

Baked Pork Chops I
This made a hit! The best way to cook porkchops, for they were actually tender - hooray! As another reviewer suggested, I opted out of the mushroom soup and cooked a brown gravy mix instead. Will definately make again...

Creamy Potato With Rosemary Soup
This is a great dish for using up a bag of poatoes before they sprout. I replaced sliced green onions for the rosemary since I couldn't find any. The bacon topping really makes a meal out of this and adding some cheese makes it taste just like a baked potato with toppings. Sauteing the onion and potato gives it extra flavor than just boiling them would. Yum.
