Parmesan Puffs

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I don't know why some reviewers have rated this recipe so low because every time I've made them for parties, they are gone within 10 minutes! I suspect any low ratings (e.g. coming out flat, not cooking right) may have come from not following the directions exactly. That is extremely important for this recipe to come out as intended. Do NOT attempt to skip steps (I know this from experience!). For instance, skipping step #2 will result in them coming out flat. Also, be sure to follow the sizing specs when putting them on the pan. It calls for rounded teaspoonfuls, not tablespoon. They will come out a respectable size, fully-cooked in the time indicated. Finally, use an electric mixer! This will help incorporate the egg into the flour ball and make them more "puffy."

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
This bread is fabulous! I did cut the recipe by one-third so I could make just one loaf. I accidentally goofed and added 2 tbsp of oil instead of the 1 tbsp melted butter (completely misread the recipe!), but it still turned out great. I also mixed and kneaded the dough in my bread machine, which worked really well. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!

Spaghetti Sauce with Ground Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
My whole family loved this sauce! My husband said this was one of my better meals, and my 2-year-old couldn't get enough of it! I did make a couple of minor changes due to personal preferences. One, I didn't use green peppers, though I'm sure they work nicely in such a sauce. Also, I used ground seitan instead of beef since my family is vegetarian. The seitan worked very nicely in the sauce and I was pretty much able to follow the directions with little changes (had to add oil because I wasn't using beef).

Pumpkin Chocolate Dessert Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
Love this cake! I did make a couple of changes (just b/c I wanted to experiment). Instead of pumpkin, I used sweet potato and left out the pumpkin pie spice (didn't want to use it). I also subbed cola for the cream in the cake b/c I love coke cakes. I did have to bake it 25 extra minutes, but it may have been b/c of my substitutions. Such a wonderfully moist cake! Thanks for the recipe!

Fantastic Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
This bread really is fantastic! I made it the first time as directed (though I mixed the dough in a bread machine). Then I tried dividing it into three sub rolls (same cooking time/temp), and it worked beautifully!

Soft Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
These cookies are so good!!! I made them a little smaller, I think, than the recipe called for because I ended up with 27 cookies from only a half batch of dough. They turned out beautifully though! I would give them more stars if I could :)

Traditional Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
I made this recipe last night and thought it was very tasty! I did make a few minor changes, following other reviewers' suggestions. I used whole milk instead of water and used 2 5-oz cans of evaporated milk (that's all I had). I also used a half-pound of homemade spaghetti noodles and added extra cheese. Overall, a very good recipe!

Baked Potato Soup II

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
My husband is very picky about potato soup but I fed him this last night and he loved it! I did omit the sour cream because I was using it in another recipe, but I probably will add it next time. Great recipe and thanks for sharing!

Easy Chicken Enchilada Crescent Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
First of all, you do need to bake this at least 20-25 minutes for the dough to get cooked through. I had to cook it 25 minutes. Also, I used some shredded faux turkey and homemade dough. They were very tasty!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
Holy poop these biscuits were fabulous!!! I did follow another reviewer's idea to add a dash of Old Bay to the dough and 1/4 tsp to the brushed-on butter. I haven't been to that certain seafood restaurant in years, but these taste spot on with what I remember!

Tender Potato Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
These were fabulous!!! My only change would be to leave out the sugar. They taste fine with it, but for a more savory biscuit, I'd leave it out. Still, great recipe! Thanks for sharing!

Playgroup Granola Bars

I loved them and so did my 2-year-old! You weren't kidding though about them getting hard! I will definitely cut them a little sooner next time. Great recipe though :)

Berry Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2011
I made these exactly as directed, and they came out wonderful! I would dare say these are the best muffins I have ever had! Next time, I might try cutting the sugar a little. As I said, they tasted great as written, but I have been trying to cut sugar where I can. Thank you for posting this recipe!!!

Turkey Pot Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2011
I made this last night for my family, and we all loved it! Even my husband, who doesn't like pot pie, went back for seconds! I did make a couple of substitutions, but I kept the method the same. Instead of turkey, I used Quorn Turk'y Roast (we're vegetarian). Also, I did as some other reviewers did and used a sheet of puff pastry for the crust, with no bottom crust. Finally, I used evaporated milk instead of regular to add a little more depth (b/c I didn't use bouillon). I'm sure that it is perfectly wonderful as written also! Thank you for sharing!

Rye Beer Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
Yum! I've only had one slice so far (saving it for dinner), but it was wonderful! It was definitely a stiff dough though, so be aware of that when kneading. It rose just like it was supposed to in the time indicated in the recipe. I will definitely be making this again!

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
Loved it! I did find it a little sweet for my taste, so next time I'll cut the sugar a bit. I also found it a little hard to slice, but that might have been due to my impatience to slice into it right out of the oven!

Orange Yogurt Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
Love this recipe! As other reviewers have said, I would say it is more cake-like, but I rather like that quality about it. I did make one substitution (which I wish I hadn't), subbing 1 tsp lemon juice for the orange peel. Making that sub it didn't come out quite as "orangey" as I would have thought. Next time, I will definitely use the peel or at least orange extract. Overall, I loved this recipe and will definitely be making it again!

French Baguettes

These were absolutely wonderful! I made these recently for my husband's Spanish class, and let's just say he was the most popular student there! I can't believe how easy they are to make too! Outstanding recipe :)

Ultimate Frozen Strawberry Margarita

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
Tried this recipe last night and it was fabulous! I did sub Grand Marnier for the triple sec and my own frozen berries with a simple syrup for the store-bought frozen berries, but I'm sure it would have been fine as written. My husband and I both loved it and will definitely be making it again!
