Slow Cooker Ground Beef Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2014
Loved it and I made it not so ugly... I doubled the recipe and added a 1/2 tsp of paprika. I added the diced onion, garlic and paprika to the meat and formed it in to a giant patty. I cooked it 5 minutes on each side. After cooking, I cut in to 1" squares. It was not fully cooked but good enough to throw in the crock pot for eight hours. I also added two bay leaves to the pot because I add bay leaves to everything. Also, because I planned to freeze half of the recipe, I didn't add potatoes because their texture is ruined by freezing. Instead, I cooked a single serving and poured the stew over the cooked potatoes.

Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
My son went MENTAL for this. Unless there is a blatant error, I always make recipes as outlined the first time. Next time I'll use cream of chicken soup and more cheese and ham.

Alaskan Campfire Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2013
Well, I mostly drained the fat from the bacon before I added anything else. That probably helped a bit. The broth was sour, vinegary. It was edible but neither my son nor I liked it. It even ruined the taste of the spuds. We ended up picking out the meat and eating it over rice. I put a ton of hot sauce on mine to get it down because I couldn't stand the thought of wasting all of it. Nothing was rotten. It was the beer that did it. Too much beer flavor. I would do this again with a strong beef bullion base and maybe one bottle of beer. I would also add thyme sprigs, soy sauce and celery as spices. It has potential.

Slow Cooker Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2013
This was easy to do but very, very bland. I had spiced it up by adding Old Bay to the flour dredge, a pound of fresh mushrooms and a lot of garlic and it still came out flavorless. The meat was fall off the bone tender, though. I don't think I would make it again without nearly rewriting the recipe from scratch. My son liked it over egg noodles but he would eat nearly anything over egg noodles.

Kung Wow Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2013
I thought the "POW" was quite bland for my tastes but that said, it still tasted really good. I had to add quite a bit of sirachi to my bowl. That said, my son just loved it. As he was going to bed last night, he asked if he could have it for breakfast, too. Considering the protein and veg content, I couldn't say no.

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2013
No matter what I tried, and I tried a lot, I couldn't bring the flavor up. This is very bland even with extras on all of the spices.

Simple Golabki

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
About a thousand times easier than rolling the dang rolls! I changed this up quite a bit, though. I made it using my family recipe although in a big pot, like a goulash. I did everything here EXCEPT a doubled the meat, added a few cups of cooked white rice (cooked in chicken broth with a big dollop of butter) added dried thyme to taste (1tsp+) and used a liter of tomato juice instead of the canned tomatoes. I personally like butter melted on top for serving, too. My son loves this dish so much that I feed it to him for breakfast with an egg on top.

Uglies

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
I laughed hysterically when I read this recipe. I "created" this same thing when I was about ten years old. Only mine was a giant, sloppy loaf that always fell apart in the oven. My mom and sister used to love it, though. I made this neater version for my hubby and son over the weekend. They loved it too, and it was nowhere near as ugly as the one I used to make!

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
I threw in two cups of softened raisins. It was just like my grandma in Belfast used to make. My husband nearly wept with joy as it was just like his grandma in Cork used to make. My son, who hates raisins, loves it too! I had to slather mine with butter and raspberry jelly. OMG! LOVE IT!!!
