Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
These are great. I am gluten free so I had to sub gluten-free flour (plus xantham gum) and gluten-free oats. I made them mini muffins. And the non gluten-free fiancee liked 'em just fine, too.

Bolognese Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2005
The sauce just tasted meaty. There wasn't really any other flavor to it. The meat flavors were so overwhelming that I couldn't enjoy it.

Thai Basil Rolls with Hoisin-Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2005
My boyfriend loved this recipe! However, he only eats fish so we did it without the pork and that left a lot to be desired for consistency and flavor. I added in a few carrots, daikon radish and cucumbers on my third try with this recipe. The sauce is amazing. My boyfriend says it is better than any of the asian sauces he has at restaurants. Now, I did have to mess with the sauce since I can't use canned hoisin sauce (it has wheat in it and I'm allergic to gluten), so I don't know how much the homemade Hoisin sauce made a difference. I definately suggest trying this recipe. It's good stuff! Also, to everyone saying this is a vietnamese dish - it is both vietnamese and thai. Every thai restaurant around my area serves this dish. In fact, none of the vietnamese restaurants sell it here.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2004
This is the worst cookie recipe I have EVER seen. The cookies were dry and they tasted more like flour than anything else. The chocolate chips did not blend in with the dough. The cookies do NOT flatten out. I can't believe these cookies got so many good ratings. Yuck.

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2002
I am not a fan of pumpkin pie, in fact, I didn't even eat this one. My boyfriend, however, loves pumpkin pie. He had to fly on Thanksgiving Day, so when he came home, I had this pumpkin pie waiting for him. He said this was the BEST pumpkin pie he's ever had. I'm going to bring one of these to my mom's for Christmas.

Irish Cream Truffle Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2002
This is the best chocolate fudge I've ever had. I will definately be making this again and again. Everyone I fed it to loved it as well. The only problem is that the recipe called for an 8x8 pan when I think it should have been a 9x13 pan. The fudge was so full in the pan that is was really really hard to cut and get out. Next time, I will try it in the larger pan.

Spicy Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2002
I absolutely loved this fudge. The butterscotch serves as a good sweetener and the spicy, pumpkin pie flavor is just excellent. It didn't seem to want to set at room temperature like the recipe suggested. After a few hours, I put it in the refridgerator to set and it set up perfectly that way. I will definately be making this one again!

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2002
The flavor of this fudge is excellent. My complaint with the fudge is that it's very very dry. It kept trying to crumble all over the place when I cut it. It tastes so much like the peanut butter that I don't think it is really worth the hassle of cutting.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2002
This is the best salmon recipe I've ever had. My boyfriend said it was the type of fish he would expect to get at an expensive restaurant.

Spicy Fish Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2002
The flavor was good, but the recipe had all of the pieces of the stew in entirely too large chunks. I had a hard time eating this.

Thai Banana Salsa with King Prawns

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2002
My boyfriend loved this recipe, but unfortunately I didn't. I found the taste of the fish sauce and all that cilantro too strong. The prawns that the recipe called for are just too large - you have to eat a bite of prawn, then a bite of the salsa. If you like cilantro, you should try this recipe - but I suggest you use small shrimp that can be eaten with the salsa in the same bite.
